5.0 out of 5 stars I want to see Jesus!, December 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: When Christ Comes (Hardcover)
Reading Max Lucado's book "When Christ Comes - The Beginning of the Very Best" was some of the best time I have spent this year. His insights into the word of God concerning the Second Coming of Christ were heart-searching, dream-launching, and understandable! Full of truth, and current life application, I would recommend this book to EVERYONE. I so much look forward to seeing Jesus; more than ever before.

5.0 out of 5 stars His "Very Best" Yet, December 27, 1999
This review is from: When Christ Comes (Hardcover)
I've read almost all books by Max Lucado and he outdid himself on this one. They keep getting better. Any time you want to be uplifted or need to feel closer to God, just pick up a Max Lucado masterpiece. His writing is so mellow yet his teachings are adapted perfectly from the Bible. I could write 5,000 words and not be finished. P.S. If you are a new convert to Christ, Lucado's books will help you understand lots of questions immediately!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Most Powerful Books I've Ever Come Across, January 14, 2000
By
franklin robertson (On the narrow road toward the Lord) - See all my reviews
This review is from: When Christ Comes (Hardcover)
All of us have faced death in one way or another. All of us have come across grief, a simple sad rainy day, or a pure agony that seems to go on for months...maybe years...Even when our bodys don't seem hurt, we all have felt our hearts, our souls, bleed...

How are we freed from this? Can we ever truly be freed in this body? Not in this world, a truthful answer to both questions. Will we actually be free one day...a most definate YES! if we live in the glory and the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Life is harsh, can be cruel, life is painful, can be sinister...oh but God...God is so glorious... He sent his Son to die for us...because he did that...we are changed...

How are we to live? Are we suppose to live for just today? No! Christ will return to us someday...whether it is on our death bed...or the beautiful Rapture of the Church...

Max explores our lives in living and serving for Christ...how we are able to change lives...like the idea of the butterfly whipping its wings... causing a tornado across the world...

We might not be saints...But Max explains how we influence others, how we influence ourselves... how we are able to help bring people to the glory of God...how we are able to bring ourselves up to Christ so that he may say with love "Welcome Faithful Servant..."

This book is so important in our lives, in our witnessing, in our private pains, in our most glorious moments...when we seem to be atop the world...

It puts it all together...I thank Lord for Max, he is a hero...

Max Lucado has been truly blessed with the gift of interpretation. As a Christian, I read my Bible but falter with meanings and explanations. Max Lucado to my rescue.

This book oozes hope. It relays joy. It shares the Truth about our heavenly expectations. Peace abounds as you learn that Christ will return, keeping His promise, allowing us access to Our Father's Kingdom. All of this is deciphered for us verse by verse; translated into common understanding and personal adeptation. I loved this book. Fear was invading my spirituality but "When Christ Comes, reinstated the strength within me to have Faith.

Excellent teaching. Worth more than gold!

5.0 out of 5 stars the review on when christ comes, February 2, 2000
This review is from: When Christ Comes (Hardcover)
this book gripped me from the very first page. i must admit i was a little troubled by some of the paragraphs, but on the whole i learnd a great deal about jesus, the pain and suffering he indured for humankind.i enjoyed the chapter crossing the threshold where he told a story(or what i thought was a story)about a prince and a peasant bride. as i read through the paragraph i realised max was actually talking about god being the prince and us representing the peasant bride. we may at times dessert him and forget about him but my heart is full of HIM.An inspiring book written by an extremlely talented author, who shows great faith and compassion in his writings. GOD BLESS you and your beautiful family max,may they give you joy, peace and happiness for the rest of your life and beyond.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most inspirational, encouraging and uplifting I have read., August 11, 1999
This review is from: When Christ Comes (Hardcover)
The Second Coming of Christ is a controversial subject in Christiandom today, but this book absolutely eliminates the need for controversy. Every Christian needs to read this and quit struggling with needing to know ALL THE ANSWERS. Just trust and leave the rest to the Father.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT, INTERESTING, INSIGHTFUL!, August 4, 2000

As always, Max Lucado as written a book that will move and inspire you. He goes into great detail, for example, about the way Jesus died. Why in the center of the two theives? Why not on their right or left? Why did one choose and one did not? Why did He have to be spit upon? Blood was the only requirement. Whenever the legalism sneaks up and begins to choke, it's so comforting to have the words penned by Pastor Lucado, encouraging and uplifting, but most of all, reminding us of JUST how much, God absolutely and unconditionally, LOVES us. My personal opinion is Max's books keep getting better and better. Don't miss this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars A beacon of insight and comfort through all that apocalyptic static, September 2, 2005
By
This review is from: When Christ Comes (Hardcover)
I fight monstrous spiritual battles with fear in my daily life with perpetually unanswered questions and unsatisfying answers to them. It is fear of death and the end of the world that puts my heart, mind and spirit into this tailspin. I have searched high and low in all places I dared to approach for musings and discussion about the end of the world, including the Mayan (read: pagan) calendar, controversial prophecies involving the papacy, the fictitious Bible code...you name it, I explored it, and came up with few answers to many of my worries.

Whether I stumbled upon Lucado's book or God led me to the one copy of it in my local bookstore, I don't know. All I know is that, through all that apocalyptic hype and static noise, Lucado drew me to the POINT, that Christ is returning to reclaim His church, to rescue us from the increasing entropy and chaos in this world around us. The POINT is not the pain and suffering we may go through to get there - that's not for us, His chosen ones. It's revenge. It's justice. Whether we live through it (the Tribulation) or not, is not the point. The point is what we do with the time we are given NOW, and searching through non-believers' theories and could-be, half-true prophecies is a huge WASTE of that time. We must keep our eyes on Him through the storms that are to come, and wait patiently for the calm, sweeping as many souls along with us as possible, so they can know His glory and rewards as well.

The only helpful and comforting piece of the truth (aside from the Bible itself) I've come across, and I've looked almost everywhere.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Second Coming, January 19, 2003
By
Karen Potts (Lake Jackson, Texas) - See all my reviews

This review is from: When Christ Comes (Paperback)
Max Lucado gives an easy-to-understand explanation of the Second Coming of Christ in this book. He uses Scripture, along with examples from everyday life, to show what it will be like. He advises the reader on what his attitude should be while "waiting forwardly" for Christ. He tells us what Scripture means when it says we will be raised to Heaven at our death and will be given a new body when Christ returns. He tells us about the difference between being saved and then about appearing before God on Judgment Day. He emphasizes God's grace and the defeat of Satan. This is a clear and concise book which will give the Christian a positive feeling about the Second Coming.

5.0 out of 5 stars When Christ Comes, May 30, 2000
This review is from: When Christ Comes (Hardcover)
I searched for answers after my only daughter dies on 1996. She was only 26 years old. Why,is she alright, will I see her again, etc.? I no longer ask these questions, God led my husband to buy this book about 4 weeks ago. In reading it together, we no longer question, but feel she is rejoicing with our Lord. I will always miss her and long to see her. But, today we both believe we will reunite with her on that glorious day When Christ Comes.
