This review is from: Fix It When I Can (Audio CD)
Daddy Mack is an auto mechanic in the morning hours who transforms into a bona fide, but little known, bluesman at night. Unfortunately for Mack, until he gets some much-deserved attention from fans he can't quit his day job. Mack's style seems to emulate Albert King, both in his playing style; fat tone and half talk-half sung warm vocals. On this disc, Mack plays with incredible feeling pushing solos to the edge without ever going over. Like tightening a lug nut, he seems to know when the song is tight enough without stripping it of its essentials. Helping on the rhythms are brothers Harold Bonner on Bass and James Bonner on second guitar and drummer Wilroy "Wolf" Sanders on drums. These guys are no slouches and Mack and the band are always in complete control on this top-notch debut CD. The performance is one of those golden moments that should not be missed. Not a bad track on the entire disc.
