Sensual and Beautifully Seductive Art,
By Ouroborose "Detective Cornfed" (SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, US) - See all my reviews
This review is from: When Darkness Falls 2010 Calendar (Calendar)
Tony Mauro's art is not for the prudish or shy, because the women are usually scantily clad and amply endowed, so now that I've gotten that out of the way, I would describe most of his calendar art as darkly beautiful. The female forms and their environments are sensually and intricately detailed, and the ladies are often depicted as magical, such as sorceresses, warriors, fairies, and even superheroines. This calendar is basically "Gothic" feminist pin-up at its best. It reminds me of what you'd perhaps expect to see in the "Underworld" movies, and is also similar to Joseph Vargo's art, though I consider Vargo more maudlin and belonging to the horror genre.

The pics were nicely wrought but they didnt match the titles up with the pics and I kind of feel like it was kind of thrown together.

This is my go-to calendar for the year. Third year running. Replaced the Boris releases. A realistic take on fantasy art.
