Limited digipak edition includes two bonus tracks. 2009 studio release from one of the best Thrash Metal bands around. When Death Comes is their first studio release since the 1999 album B.A.C.K! A new chapter in the life of Artillery has now begun with When Death Comes, which contains 10 blistering tracks that fill the void between past glory and future splendor. New material was recorded between March and April 2009 at Medley Studios in Denmark with Sren Andersen as the producer.

This is one of the best thrash metal recordings I have ever heard. I was completely unprepared for the aural assault Artillery rolled me with. My intro to this band was their album "By Inheritance", an 80's thrash chestnut in its time. I still enjoy it, but it's obviously a bit dated. Their new release, "When Death Comes", is a geometric improvement over any of their previous recordings. A new singer (vastly better than the original), along with great production, virtuoso approaching musicianship, and downright pounding riffs, verses, and melodic bridges would make Dave Mustaine proud. Most 40-something musicians from the 80s have long since lost the edge that made them the powerhouses they used to be. Many plod along trying to cash in on the current trends and fail abysmally. (Are you listening Soldouttica?) Not Artillery! This cadre of middle aged metal-heads came back and completely schooled the genre. I'm still in shock by how good this record is.

This is a pretty good album. Catchy songs, heavy and fast. Slightly progressive a times, but not really progressive thrash. Singer is reasonably good, given what it is. Enthusiastic vocals going slighly deep, raspy to normal to Bobby Blitz screams! Love it. There are moments when he actually sings. Has kind of a cross over feel to it, Nuclear Assault-ish. Hardcore-metal like maybe. Song topics are weak, but catchy. Mid-high tone singer.

Thrash is my favorite sub-genre of metal. I own several Artillery cds, but they never reached the standards of this new cd. I don't know if it is just the production like another reviewer suggested, but this sounds awesome. VERY high quality thrash with a singer that can sing (not just yell), killer riffs, and songs that get stuck in your head. FYI -- this is a new singer not heard on their other releases.
