Charles W. Harvey is an award winning writer of fiction, poetry, and drama. His story Cheeseburger, won the 1987 PEN/Southwest Award. The story WHEN DOGS BARK has been widely anthologized in SHADE, Soulfires, STORY MAGAZINE and others. His poetry has appeared in the James White Review and other Publications. Please be on the lookout for his novel THE ROAD TO ASTROWORLD which had quite a few New York Editors wagging their tongues.He resides in Houston, Texas with his cat Electra.
Charles W. Harvey is a native Houstonian. He has studied fiction under the guidance of Rosellen Brown) and Chitra Divakaruni at the University of Houston. He has studied poetry under Joyce James and Cynthia MacDonald. In 1987, Charles was a 1st prize recipient of PEN/Discovery for Cheeseburger, which went on to be published in the Ontario Review. In 1989 Charles Harvey was awarded the Cultural Arts Council of Houston Grant for Writers and Artists. Also in 1989 he was a finalist in the MacDonald's Literary Achievement Awards. Charles has been published in Soulfires, Story Magazine SHADE, High Infidelity, The James White Review, and others. His novel The Road to Astroworld awaits the world. He recently challenged himself to participate in the 2010 NANOWRIMO (National Novel Writer's Month) Contest in which he pinned the rough draft of his future novel: THE HOLEY SWEETS UNDERWEAR MANUFACTURING CO. he also participated in NANOWRIMO 2011 and produced the novel The Butterfly Killer.
