OK, It's 1984 and I'm listening to When Doves Cry for the first time on my best friend's turntable. I never usually like a song the first time I hear it, but this one captures me immediately. With it's deep ethereal funk, Prince does great justice to this single with his suave throaty vocal stylings. Next time I hear this piece, it's as I'm entering Studio 54 for the first time (post velvet rope and new owners, but I'm excited). The aura of that environ with its red velvet, theatre balconies, and booming acoustics are just the place for this lyrically sexy tune. If ya wanna feel present with the Masterful Prince, then buy this CD, sit back, and groove with an era that evoked soulful sensual funk.

Two Songs that Speak for themselves about One OF Musics Most Important Artists Ever.When Doves Cry the Feeling&Vibe of that Song alone still Blows The Mind.Purple Rain has so Many Rich Elements Going on Throught it it's Incredible.The Instrumentation on Both Songs are Very Tight.

Now, I was never, nor have I ever been a fan of Prince. I never liked his music. The only things I really like about him are his guitar playing, and the fact that he's a great lyricist. I looked at this single and saw that it is the single to "When Doves Cry", which is one of his hit singles from the infamouse PURPLE RAIN soundtrack. But that song wasn't what pursuaded me to buy this single. It was the single's flip-side, "Purple Rain", the film and soundtrack's infamous title-track, that persuaded me to buy this single.

"Purple Rain" is about the only song I ever really liked from Prince. That, and "I Would Die 4 U". "Purple Rain" is Prince's most brilliant piece of work. The music to the song is so captivating and so amazingly beautiful, words cannot describe it. "Purple Rain" is the reason why I rated this single five-stars. As for "When Doves Cry", it is not too bad of a song...musically. But "Purple Rain", in my opinion, is the real gem here.
