5.0 out of 5 stars Romance and Mystery in the Wild West, March 2, 2011
This review is from: When All My Dreams Come True (Colorado Runaway Series) (Paperback)
In this first book in the Colorado Runaway series, Bobbie McIntyre and Jace Kincaid have one thing in common - they both love cattle ranching. Bobbie's dream is to own her own ranch one day; Jace wants to prove he can run his successfully after the death of his parents. When Bobbie shows up wanting a job at Jace's ranch, Jace is hesitant to hire a girl wrangler, but Bobbie proves herself to be knowledgeable and competent. As Bobbie is taken under the wings of Jace's sister, her feminine side emerges, and Jace finds himself attracted to Bobbie. When cattle begin missing from the ranch and several bank robberies occur, Bobbie becomes a suspect.

What I loved about this fast-paced book is that the action never stops. Bobbie is shoved off a cliff, held at gunpoint, and accused of bank robbery. Jace's heart is awakened to love he didn't know he was looking for amid ranch troubles aplenty. Author Janelle Mowery is equally skilled at writing the action/adventure parts of the story as she is in presenting the tender side of two young people discovering love. If you love a little mystery with your romance, grab a copy of this book set in 1872 Colorado territory. Then hang on - it's a wild and fun ride.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the Type of Christian Fiction I Enjoy Reading, March 4, 2011
This review is from: When All My Dreams Come True (Colorado Runaway Series) (Paperback)
I am probably not the right audience for this book. This was one of those books that I just didn't really enjoy. I couldn't get into the story, I didn't feel anything for the characters and I pretty much found myself not really connecting with anything. This story is supposed to be a historical romance. I say supposed to be historical but except for mentions of having to wear long dresses and not having electricity, I felt everything to be incredibly modern. The way people talked and acted made me feel like I was reading something set in the 21st century. The romance didn't do anything for me at all. I felt no chemistry between the two main characters. Truth be told I actually found them quite boring.

The main thing that bugged me about the book was that I found the story to be incredibly preachy. I felt that every other chapter there were people constantly trying to get Bobbie to become a Christian. They didn't really have good reasons for doing it nor did they really show good examples of faith either. Then there quite a few sermons that I skimmed through because I don't like reading pages of sermons in a fiction book. I'm not sure who the intended audience is for the book. If it's intended to be Christians, then all the pages about becoming a Christian and all the sermons seems to be repetitive and something to skip over. If non Christians read the book, then they will probably want to skip over it as well because it feels very proselytizing. I hate to say this, but this was one of the preachiest books that I have read in a long time. I had thought that Christian fiction was moving away from being this overtly religious and to see it like this was slightly disappointing. This is not to say that I think that faith should not be included in Christian fiction. What I want is realistic situations involving faith and not feel like I'm going to Sunday School.

The only thing that did spark my interest is that Bobbie is respected for being a rancher and her skills are looked upon favorably by the men. While there's some resistance in the beginning, she proves herself to them and they accept her into their group. Therefore it's nice to see a woman who can do a man's job, get respect and still have her femininity. However, this bit is not enough to save the story for me. There were just too many things that I didn't like about the story. This type of book may be good for others, but it's the type of Christian fiction that I am not a fan of and am choosing to stay away from.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced historical romance western with a dash of mystery, May 8, 2011
If your a fan of historical western romance, that also has a strong christian message woven in then your going to be in for a real treat when you pick up the action packed "When All My Dreams Come True," the first book in the Colorado Runaway Series by Janelle Mowery.

Talk about working in a male dominated world, that's just what Bobbie McIntyre does. She is a cowboy errr cowgirl who was taught by her father to rope and wrangle, but when he dies Bobbie decides its time to leave the ranch where he was the foreman. It had always been her dream to own her own ranch and she fears if she doesn't leave that she might never get the chance. So when the owner of the ranch recommends her to the Double K ranch owned by Jace Kincaid, as an excellent worker, he doesn't disclose that Bobbie is a female. With plenty of problems on the Double K, Jace decides to let Bobbie prove herself. Jace finds himself drawn to Bobbie, but when she comes under suspicion for cattle rustling and bank robberies, he isn't sure that he can trust her.

This book was full of action, from the get go Bobbie is mistaken for an outlaw, being tossed by a horse, thrown off a cliff, men being shot at and cattle drives, this book really never slows down. I enjoyed the fact that the character of Bobbie was so different. While being a wrangler in a male dominated setting, she comes off as strong and confident, but the author also gives us a softer side of Bobbie, someone who wanted to learn to cook, and wear dresses. I felt as if the tables were sort of turned in this story, usually its the male who is the hero, who makes everything ok, but not so in this story, it was actually Bobbie who saves the ranch.

Along with romance, there is a bit of mystery, humor and a nice inspirational message woven together to make this a book I couldn't put down.

A complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and Sassy Provides Great Mix, February 25, 2011
This review is from: When All My Dreams Come True (Colorado Runaway Series) (Paperback)
I recently had the privilege of reading Janelle Mowery's book entitled When All My Dreams Come True. I found myself pleasantly surprised with the character of Bobbie McIntyre. My historical reading usually gravitates to the traditional 'women' roles, and not heroines who wear pants and carry a gun. I loved the way Janelle created Bobbie to be a mix of feminine and pure cowgirl. Her sweet and sassy characteristics made it difficult to put this book down. This is a book I highly recommend.

Not a bad story plot, but then the praying about what was happening in the story started up every other page. Great for a born again Christian that wants this type of Christian book. Too distracting to me, and felt like it was forcing the Christian thing. I actually deleted it from my kindle.

1.0 out of 5 stars mush mush mush, full of religious nonsense, October 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When authors decide that they want to sell their religion to you they should have to put it on the cover of the book. To say this story is trite is an understatement but I just could not get past the pages and pages of religious sales pitch. The story seems to jump anything with any real action to it and the reader is left wondering if they just missed a few pages or the author just did not have enough courage to actually fill in the detail. Bland romance, bland action, and too much religious sales pitch to be worth reading. Very disappointing purchase unless you want an abridged bible to read and certainly not worth the cover price.

4.0 out of 5 stars When All My Dreams Come True, January 12, 2012
This review is from: When All My Dreams Come True (Colorado Runaway Series) (Paperback)
Bobbie McIntyre lost both her parents within a short span of time. Dislocated and orphaned she is sent to work as a ranch-hand for Jace Kincaid. But when she arrives on Jace's ranch, she is shocked to find Jace and his man threatening to hang her for stealing cattle. She managed to talk him into hiring him on, and trying to break in his prized stallion. But one mistake and she's out of there...

Jace Kincaid has trouble. Not only is someone rustling his cattle, but his neighbor thinks he's a young fool, and a man he thought was a friend sent Bobbie--a nineteen-year-old Jace thought was a male--to work for him. Not only that, but Bobbie has dreams of owning her own ranch someday--could she be after his? And worse, it doesn't take long for Jace to have dreams of his own, regarding Bobbie. What will it take to make their dreams come true?

As soon as I opened the cover and started reading WHEN ALL MY DREAMS COME TRUE, I was thrust into non-stop action--and instant caring for the characters, even though they are not the type I usually like reading about.

Bobbie is as tomboyish as her name implies. She dresses in men's clothing and handles a gun better than some of Jace's ranch hands. Jace considers ranching a ministry, taking on troubled teens and teaching them to be real men...a woman coming under his employ under guise as a man leaves Jace unsure how to react and where to turn. And not only that, but she leaves him spinning, physically and mentally. If you are looking for a historical romance that will leave you gasping for breath and on the edge of your seat, then WHEN ALL MY DREAMS COME TRUE is a book to consider. Ms. Janelle Mowery is an extremely talented author you'll want to watch.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cowgirl with a heart, December 27, 2011

This review is from: When All My Dreams Come True (Colorado Runaway Series) (Paperback)
Bobbie McIntyre meets up with 2 wrong men trying to take her out. After talking to one another she meets Jace the ranch owner she is supposed to work for. Jace in turns meets a girl instead of a boy that was supposed to come work for him. They thought she was the cattle rustler that has been attacking Jace's cattle. Jace's family takes Bobbie in to live in the house as she can not stay with the other hands in the bunkhouse. As time goes on Bobbie proves herself until someone says she is a bankrobber. Then doubts and rumors start to fly.

I enjoyed this romance with a mystery as well. Who are rustling the cattle and is Bobbie really a bank robber? The story comes alive from the very first page and keeps you drawn in as the pages turn. I did not want the book to end.

4.0 out of 5 stars So~o~o good!, December 4, 2011
By
Lena Bowers (COLUMBUS, MISSISSIPPI, US) - See all my reviews
Bobbie was not the~in~the~kitchen~cooking type woman. In fact she was a saddle~riding~cow~roping~rancher's hand. She wanted to invest in a ranch of her own but for now, she was content to work as a ranch hand at Jace's ranch, if he would accept her as she was. Jace & his sister, were people of faith, so Bobbie was about to get a good dose of what it means to totally lean & depend on God daily, in good times & bad, also to fall deeply in love. She has not been treated with nuch respect because of her ranch work, but that will change as well. This new job seems to be just what Bobbie needs, until cattle came up missing on Jaces' ranch & guess who is a main suspect in the robberies? To get out of this mess she will need God. See how He works things out for everyones' good. I love inapiring novels. They uplift me so much!
