This story fits the bill. I did not like this story or the main charatcters Melanie and Winston. When the story begins the both notice how attractive the other is at the airport. Winston Knight, a gorgeous doctor, saw a beautiful woman across the jewelry store in the airport. For the first time in his life "He didn't understand why he felt so drawn to her and that intrigued him." Melanie "Mel" McDae, a writer, spent ten years loving a man who could only hate and was ready for one who could love. When these two meet, we have Dorothy Elizabeth Love's When Dreams Float.

Winston is determined to not let the woman who captured his attention get away; however, he is distracted by his flight being called and he loses track of her. Lucky for them they end up on the same airplane to Tahiti. Within hours they share a kiss. Melanie, shocked she was being so "fast", is relieved to know that when they reach their destination, Winston will be in a doctor's conference and she will be cruising the Tahitian islands. When Winston pops up on the cruise ship kissing her once again, she knows she is in trouble. Winston's chase becomes relentless and he pulls out all the stops to spend time with Melanie. However, as things are heating up, Winston is holding a secret that can get in the way of this new love.

Dorothy Elizabeth Love has written one of the sexiest, exciting, and laugh- out- loud romance stories that I have read in a long time. Loves scenes with Winston and Melanie will have you panting and the scenes with Melanie and her best friend Sandra will have you in stitches. The only thing that keeps this from being a five for me on my romance scale is the ending. It was a bit anti-climatic. If you are a romance reader pick this up. If not, you can check it out anyway.

4.0 out of 5 stars Floating into the Arms of Love, June 25, 2003

This review is from: When Dreams Float (Indigo: Sensuous Love Stories) (Paperback)
WHEN DREAMS FLOAT is the second novel in Dorothy Love's Travel and Love Collection and it is indeed an exotic, erotic, and entertaining read. This story takes place in Tahiti and as usual Love's descriptive use of language allows readers to float away to a tropical paradise and watch a steamy love story unfold.

Melanie and her friend Sandra have decided to vacation together in Tahiti. For Melanie the trip will be both work and play as she is doing research for a couple of freelance articles she is working on for some travel magazines. Still healing from a painful relationship and ultimately a divorce, Melanie is looking forward to having time to relax and reconnect with her old college roommate Sandra.

Winston is headed to Tahiti for a medical convention. Never a man to rely on chance he works hard to get what he wants and doesn't accept failure as an option. When he sees Melanie in an airport jewelry store he figures he must seize his opportunity to meet her. However, his plans for a meeting are thwarted when his flight begins boarding. Once he boards the plane he is pleasantly surprised to find Melanie on the same flight and thus the adventure begins. Winston comes on strong from the very beginning as it is his nature to tirelessly pursue something or as in this case, someone he wants. Melanie is distrustful of men after her failed marriage and taken aback by Winston's strong pursuits. With beautiful tropical sunsets, and delightful island scenery, will Melanie be able to resist Winston's forward advances?

While there were times when I felt like Winston's advances were a little over the top for the most part this was an enjoyable read. I truly enjoyed the way Love seamlessly incorporated Tahitian history and scenery into the plot of the story. The depth of the characters made them more realistic and also added to the story. WHEN DREAMS FLOAT is a wonderful read for a rainy day, it will draw readers in and carry them off to a tropical paradise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Fantasy..., November 21, 2006
By
This review is from: When Dreams Float (Indigo: Sensuous Love Stories) (Paperback)
Book Description: First of the 4-part TLC Series of stories focused on love & exotic location.

Avoidance - Melanie McDoe Spent ten years loving a man who could only hate. The last thing she's looking for is intimacy on her research trip to Tahiti.

Denial - Winston Knioght is a pragmatic doctor who believed dreams of love were no longer probable, as evident by the drama causing girlfriend he purposely left behind when he went on a cruise vacation around the Tahitian Islands.

The Attractive Clash - The romantic comedy, WHEN DREAMDS FLOAT, plunges Melanie and Winston together and neither is prepared for the tidal wave of pleasure that pulls them together and threatens to wash away their past hurt, enabling them both to realize that dreams do come true

A wonderful fantasy. The author takes you on a beautiful vacation while telling a well written love story involving two people damaged from bad relationship. The is a short, quick, and very satisfying read.

This story fits the bill. I did not like this story or the main charatcters Melanie and Winston. When the story begins the both notice how attractive the other is at the airport. They are both on their way to Tahiti and on the same plane. Winston is instantly attracted to Melanie and his attraction increases tenfold when he sees her on the same plane that he is on. Melanie thinks he is attractive but because of an abusive past relationship she is not looking for romance.

This is where it gets creepy. Winston sees her going to the bathroom he follows her and lurks near the restroom. He grabs her arm when she comes out and proceeds to come on very strong verbally. Then he kisses her. This was not romantic and frankly I found his intensity creepy. Now if a woman had been mistreated the way Melaine had for five years, she was abused emotionally, verbally and physically, his behavior should have sent her running. However, she takes it in stride. He doesn't tell her that he will be on the cruise with her and "surprises" her when the ship sails. The next day, now keep in mind he onlt met her yesterday he comes on stronger if that's possible. He creeps up on her, invades her personal space and touches her thighs! He is relentless.

Melaine has worked hard to regain herself esteem or so she says. She was angry with him and told him that she doesn't like deception or manipulation but still continues to let him do both. She had no self-esteem because if she did she would have never allowed him to do any of the things that he did. One scene inparticular that I won't spoil would have had any woman with an ounce of sense running scared.

In another scene he actually grabed her when he was angry with her and she was afraid? Nope. After what she had already been through she should have run for her life.

She was weak and still in her I want to please a man mode despite their (necessary part of most romance books) drama. She was willing to put up with too much drama from Winston just because he gave her the Big O.

Winston was a selfish, agressive, manipulator and I didn't find him an atrractive character. He maintained the charactistics through out the book. It was always about what he wanted and what he needed.

When I first received this book in the mail I grumbled about how short it seemed. When I started reading I couldn't wait for it to over. I finshed it because I paid $8.95 but I will never read another story by Ms. Love again.

I gave the book 2 stars only because Ms. Love's description of Tahiti was wonderful. To bad she couldn't put that same skill into her character development.

"When Dreams Float" is one of the best books that I've ever read. I love it; it's wonderful... Great setting, great romance, great characters; just a wonderful book. Dorothy is one of the best writers that I know of. She does great work and I wish her so much success. If you haven't read, "Crossing Paths, Tempting Memories" you must read it. All of Dorthy's books are phenomenal!

My hat is off to Dorothy Love. I reveiwed this book for my book club "Avid Readers and Reviewers of Jacksonville", and found it to be very exciting and informative. It has a wonderful story line and is not a sleeper. People who still believe a little in romance will really enjoy it. I can't wait to read other books by Dorothy.
