This review is from: When the Elephants Came (Hardcover)
Nima Yushij is considered the father of modern Iranian poetry since his "Sher-e-Noh" or new poetry was the first to use blank verse and break away from the traditional structures and meters. I was imagining something profound when I ordered this book "When The Elephants Came" but instead was delighted to discover that it was a children's book with wonderful illustrations and a surprise ending and a moral like in the Aesop's Fable tradition. I think it will be greatly enjoyed by any boy or girl under the age of six...perfect bedtime story and the antagonist looks like something out of Star Wars like a giant sand person complete with goggles.
