5.0 out of 5 stars Pain Relief Made Possible, May 3, 2000
By
This review is from: When Forgiveness Doesn't Make Sense (Hardcover)
My office is just a stone's throw from Columbine High, where my daughter will be a cheerleader next year. We've had a lot of pain in our community. I've read lots of books and we've had lots of advice on how to forgive. This book provides solid answers to the questions that we've all been asking. It really stands out from the pack. It's not full of psychological pap. (We've had our fill of that, quite frankly). Jeffress' has an uncanny ability to apply the Bible's ancient wisdom to modern realities. Even before Columbine, like most of us, I had felt the pain of betrayal--and struggled with how to get over it. This book showed me how to rise above it. I recommend it as very accessible, knowing counsel for those struggling with hurt of any kind. It is a balanced, realistic look at what the Bible teaches on the most relevant subject imaginable. The chapter on "Forgiving God" is worth the price of the book all by itself. That's a concept I have found no where else. Get this book for someone you love who is hurting (maybe you!). You'll be glad you did. I checked Jeffress' other books, too, and he seems to have a real gift for motivating his readers on the path of successful living that pleases God.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book Review, April 25, 2000
This review is from: When Forgiveness Doesn't Make Sense (Hardcover)
I found this book to be incredibly helpful in addressing the forgiveness issue. As a professional counselor, I believe that forgiveness is the central issue for healing and productive living. Jeffress addresses forgiveness in a biblical and straightforward manner. This book is unique in that Jeffress raises the question that all honest strugglers face, "Where is God and does He care?" Jeffress also reveals his pastors heart by providing real life illustrations in a clear, easy to read manner. This book will challenge your presuppositions about forgiveness and strenghthen your faith in God. This is a must read for everyone, especially pastors, counselors, and people-helpers.

4.0 out of 5 stars It helped save my family, August 28, 2006
A friend gave me this book 4 weeks after I had found out my husband was having an affair, but wanted to stay with the family. Through what I learned from this book I learned how to forgive without becoming bitter and to reconsile. My family is still whole and our marriage is better than it ever has been!

5.0 out of 5 stars Review for When Forgiveness doesn't make Sense, September 20, 2011

This book was recommended to me by my Pastor in Virginia, even though I moved back to the DelMarVa Peninsula the year before.

I loaned my paperback copy to a fellow Christian that was having personal problems. I never got the book back and told my friend to keep it. I ordered a used copy on Amazon.com and got the hardback version at a great price. If you have problems in your life, this book is a good read. It may not solve what is ailing you, but it will give you a new perspective to look at your situation.
