The love of a grandmother told via travels,
By Charles Ashbacher (Marion, Iowa United States) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)
This review is from: When Grandma Came (Viking Kestrel picture books) (Hardcover)
In this delightful book, Grandma is a world traveler who comes back to stay when her daughter Madeleine is born. She recounts and compares many of the things she has seen in her travels to her daughter as she grows. She has seen polar bears playing in the midnight sun and Madeleine awake at night. Messy hippopotami cavorting in the mud are compared to the mess Madeleine makes while eating. As Madeleine grows and matures, Grandma is there, and in the end, Madeleine turns to her grandmother and says, "I love you too Grandma."
Told in a series of comparisons, this story is all about the love a Grandmother has for her grandchild. In all of her travels, Grandma has never encountered anything that compares to her granddaughter. Which is why she is there instead of continuing her travels. It is a nice story to be read to children.

When Grandma Came,
By Jennifer Bateman (Peoria, Illinois, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: When Grandma Came (Picture Puffins) (Paperback)
This is one of the sweetest books a grandchild could give their grandmother...boy or girl. The only way to make this book better is for the grandchild to be sitting in their grandmother's lap when she reads this book to them. Love and time together is the greatest gift of all.
