Book Description

May 1, 2006
Brad and Jen were fun to watch. Britney and Kevin, even better.

But…what if you woke up on the A List?

Jessica used to paint idly in her East Hampton garden. Now she ducks paparazzi hiding in the bushes. She used to live quietly, happy to be in the shadows. Now she's on the front page of every tabloid magazine.

No one said life on the A List would be easy.

When Harry Hit Hollywood is the hilarious story of celebrity marriage, where paparazzi watch you wash your hair, and every argument makes Page Six.

When sweet, quiet Jessica married Harry-Hollywood's most notorious billionaire bachelor-she knew she'd have to work hard to mend his hard-partying ways. But she didn't expect to become the "it" couple, crowned America's new royalty and adored by celebrities.

A hilarious send-up of the Hollywood scene, When Harry Hit Hollywood is a true-love story of when heartland values meet the cash and panache of the rich and ridiculous.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Although Goodman-Davies (When Harry Hit the Hamptons) has all the salacious Hollywood elements in place, his latest is predictable. East Coast heiress Jessica Ackerman marries Beverly Hills billionaire Harry Raider just in time for the Raider fortune to vanish. As the news breaks, hotel heiress Luisa Mendez creates an interesting twist: she directs her assistant, Chas Greer, to undo the Raider marriage so she can have Harry for herself. Chas has the most compelling voice—having suffered through childhood just outside the wealthy Beverly Hills scene, Chas compensates by befriending as many A-listers as possible, giving him plenty of opportunity to seethe hilariously at the pampered characters around him. Unfortunately, Goodman-Davies doesn't trust Chas or anyone else with the plot: the point of view switches constantly, and the complex narrative scheme doesn't make up for an anemic story. (May)

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst book I have ever read, September 7, 2006
By

This review is from: When Harry Hit Hollywood (Paperback)
After reading the back cover I thought this sounded like an interesting, cute book. It said it was about an average girl marring a classic Hollywood party boy and life isn't so easy anymore. Boy was I wrong. It turned out to literally be THE WORST book I have ever read. Ever. I usually go along with a story being unrealistic to a certain point, but the plot got progressively more and more improbable and unlikely. Not only does the story go from ok to bad to horrible to beyond horrible, but there are spelling and grammatical errors on practically every other page, which drove me INSANE. Don't waste your time or money on this book.

I too was mislead on by the back cover thinking this book would be good for some fun light reading. I am sorry to say that it was pretty bad. The characters were unlikable and unbelievable and the writing was just plain bad. I do give it points that i was actually able to finish it though i was thinking this book is not good the whole way through. I don't recommend, i am happy that for once i didn't spend money on this book and actually picked it up at the library.
