Book Description

October 1, 2005
From a woman plastic surgeon comes the first comprehensive, easy-to-understand book on what to expect before, during, and after breast reduction surgery. Breast reduction is among the top ten most commonly performed major plastic surgical procedures. Many celebrities are even speaking out about their experiences. Yet there is no trade book on this topic. This book is the first comprehensive, easy-to-understand resource on the problems related to heavy breasts and what to expect from breast reduction surgery. It is written with the compassion of a female plastic surgeon with 18 years' experience and insight into the concerns of these women. Heavy-breasted women suffering from disabling neck, back, and shoulder pain experience considerable symptom relief and deep emotional benefits after this surgery. But making the decision can be difficult, most women think about it for years before taking action. This book answers six critical questions: Will the surgery help me? Are there alternatives to surgery? How do I find a good doctor? Will my insurance pay for the surgery? What does the surgery involve, including risks and outcomes? How long is the recovery time? This first-of-its-kind book provides what women need to know to make an informed decision about a procedure that can transform their lives.

Excellent resource October 9, 2005
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am a plastic surgeon and this is an excellent book. We pride ourselves on as thorough a consultation we can do, and this book summarizes all that and more. I am now buying multiple copies to give to our patients to read prior to surgery. If you are thinking about the surgery, buy this book.

A Must Have! November 10, 2005

This book is excellent. Every woman that is considering a breast reduction surgery should have this book.

I am scheduled for a BR at the end of this month. This book is my "resource" for all the questions that I have regarding this surgery, post-op recovery and pre-op preparations. The author explains everything in layman's terms.

I can't say enough about this book!

Overall, this is a very good book to read when you're trying to make the decision. Honestly, there's not much out there (at least from what I could find), so it really felt great to get my hands on such a comprehensive source.

I read so much and talked to so many people online that I thought I'd go crazy trying to make the decision - you can't tell which end is up when you get overloaded. So, this book was very helpful in my journey to make my decision. I, personally, ended up not going through with the surgery, but I learned a ton through the process of thinking about it.

Good wishes to all of you ladies out there wrangling with this decision.
