Book Description

Biologist Libby Samson wants only one thing: to rebuild her life after an ugly divorce.

So she quits her job and buys an organic farm.

Then, one evening, a two-foot tall man stands up out of the shadows and greets her by name.

It’s hard enough for Libby to come to terms with the fact that “little folk” exist.

But when word of Libby’s experience leaks out onto the Internet, her peaceful farm soon swarms with kooky strangers. The media shows up. Her annoying sister shows up. And her horrified boyfriend thinks she should be on meds.

Libby finds one person she can confide in: Dean, her solitary (but sexy) next-door neighbor.

But what if trusting Dean is a huge mistake?

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read November 5, 2011
By Julie
Format:Kindle Edition
There are some gems hidden in the mass pool of ebooks and this is a shining example. I was pleasantly surprised by this story which I'd chosen at random for an overseas holiday read. I'm glad I did.
Kirsten Mortensen has done a good job here. Libby is a believable character who is trying to follow her dream of a quiet peaceful life as an organic farmer when she meets the 'little people' - either real or imaginary, does it matter? She takes their advice, eventually, and produces top quality vegetables. Her dream is almost realized, then she lets it slip about the 'fairies'. Before she knows it, her dream turns into a nightmare.
Once you're into the story you're soon hooked. I was disappointed when it had to end.
I've been a writer for many years now and it can be quite difficult to tell a tall tale which keeps a reader turning the page. Kirsten Mortensen does this via her characters - all are believable. I wanted to give the main character a good shake on many occasions!
Technically, the story could do with some tighter editing, and maybe the title is a tad too long, but that's just my opinion. On the whole, 'Fey' is a great escape and well worth diving into. I look forward to reading more fiction by Kirsten Mortensen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this clever, moving story! January 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
"When Libby Met the Fairies and her Whole Life Went Fae" is a story about a woman who meets some little people who help her grow her garden; but more than that it's a complicated and witty story, cleverly arranged, with masterful characters and real emotion. It's full of depth, life lessons, rage, jealousy, bitterness, and ego - with just enough supernatural and lust thrown in to keep things interesting. This isn't one of those shallow teenage paranormal love triangles; this is something so, so much more. Don't pass it up - you don't know what you'll be missing.

I really enjoyed this book. It was funny, cute, and I just loved reading it. There could have been more about the fairies, but other than that I would HIGHLY recommend it and look forward to reading more from this author.

I read this book in a day. Not because it was short, but because I could not put it down. I thoroughly enjoyed it. When Libby Met the Fairies is reminiscent of John Gardner. Read more

No murder, no mystery, a satisfying read. I recommend it if you want something cozy and clean and that's not so easy to find these days.
