I really appreciate Rick's transparency and the way he deals with this difficult topic. In walking us through how he and Judy have processed their grief, he provides a roadmap for wrestling through the many issues at hand in a God-honoring way (Eph. 4:26). I have also found the tapes of the interviews Rick and Judy did with Dennis Rainey on FamilyLife Today to be extremely helpful. I highly recommend this book for anyone struggling and asking "Why?" following the death of a loved one.

When my Son passed I read a few books on grieving. I had to try to find some relief. This book I feel was the most helpful. It really helped me see that I needed to get stronger and not try to feel better about my Son being gone. How could I ever feel "better" about that. I needed to adjust my life. It's a rough journey but I am glad I found this book. I make sure I give out this book to others that I have come across that have to travel the path I'm on. And if you are here concidering this book from my heart to yours, I'm truely sorry for your loss. I do recommend you try this book. I hope it helps you like it has me.

This book was given to my husband and me after we lost our 19-year-old son in a car accident. It was especially helpful for my husband, but we both benefitted from reading it as we were grieving. We have since had friends lose children and have purchased several more copies of the book to give to them as they deal with the loss.

After losing my son, I found myself drawn toward personal stories of people authentically wrestling with faith and life--from their questions and struggles I learn so much and find solidarity in my pain. I appreciated this author's perspective through his own loss and the truth contained in this book, however, I felt like the author was often preaching at me rather than just sharing the insights he has gained through his experience. He was making pointed arguments to the reader and it just wasn't a style to which I responded well.

Two of my sons have died. One in 1976 (sudden infant death syndrome); and another in july 2009. Dustin took his own life @
29 years old. People don't like to talk about a baby dieing or suicide, so I've felt pretty much on my own to endure the pain.
Even though I am a Christian, I couldn't find a solid comfort until I read Ricks book. It felt as if God was talking to me ~
through Rick. Rick is a man of God and has been used to reveal God's heart for those suffering from broken heartedness. I'm ordering
more copies. ALL of us will suffer - either we bury someone or/ they will bury us. God is the healer of broken hearts and we have
the hope of ETERNAL Bliss!

I read this book 2 years after loosing my 55 yr old mom, to a short and sudden battle w/ pancreatic cancer. I was 3 months into being a 1st time mom when my mom died, it was difficult to sort through this and take care of my baby at the same time.

This book was exactly what I needed - for me, it left no stone unturned;I would have never admitted to anyone how I was feeling or that I was thinking the things this book openly addresses. It was easy to read and got to the point right away.

If you've lost someone close; if a loved one or a friend has lost someone close and you would like a better understanding of what they are going through, this book would be helpful.

When my brother went to heaven, I was desperate looking for someone to relate to that viewed death the way I did... as a Christian. I believe in Eternal Life and I wanted to read someone's story of hope even in the midst of all the pain. This book definitely fit my needs and helped me understand the different ways people react to dealing with the death of a loved one. I have purchased many of these copies to give out to my large family and everytime I encounter someone that is grieving... I buy another one and I will continue to do so!!!

This book was the most touching and moving treatment of a tragic topic-the death of your child. It was handled with compassion and ultimate tenderness. Love this book!!!

I purchased all these books for the library of the local Compassionate Friends chapter - which I am co-founder. I haven't had alot of time to totally read them all but, just scanning through, I think they will be helpful to our grieving parents. Delivery on all books was acceptable; books were in very good condition.
