Book Description

June 2002 Tech
Veteran racer and motorcycle power addict Tom Murphy leads you step-by-step into the world of super-quick motorcycle racing. Murphy gets us started by describing a racer's typical day at the drags, then leads us expertly through the basics of racing motorcycles a quarter-mile at a time. He shows us how to build a rider through training and conditioning, then how to prepare your street bike for racing, how to build an all-out bike for racing, and even how to find a sponsor when you find yourself close to professional racing status.

Review

"...a thoroughly informative work that is broad in scope and a pleasure to read." -- Joseph Glydon in City Bike

"...you cannot go wrong with this book. ...There isn't a single topic that isn't explored." -- Ride Texas

About the Author

Tom Murphy has been in, on, and around motorcycles since 1963. His first bike was a Matchless 500cc single that, he admits, only started once or twice without the need for a rolling bump-start. Only two years later, his 1965 Triumph 500 introduced him to motorcycle drag racing, where he has since become one of the sport's most respected experts. He currently lives in an area of Nevada so rural, that he depends on his Buell Thunderbolt and, as he claims, the Spanish-speaking bears, for company.

This review is from: When the Light Turns Green: A Handbook of Motorcycle Drag Racing (Paperback)
This is an amazing book. It literally covers everything you've ever wanted to know but might have been reluctant to ask.

While there is tons of information, it's still easy to follow and will prove to be a major asset to anyone considering drag racing. I continue to recommend this book to anyone who is considering going racing.

Buy it. You won't regret it.
