  • Multicultural Fiction
Samantha's second year of college started with heartbreak and betrayal. Lost, lonely, and robbed of all joy, she'd completely given up on ever finding love again when a chance encounter put her in contact with the man who would change her life.

Tony never believed in love at first sight - until he laid eyes on Samantha. But within moments of meeting her, he knew without a doubt that she was the woman he was put on this earth to love. There was only one problem - Angela, his girlfriend of five years.

Tony doesn't want to hurt Angela, with whom he shares a rich history, but his connection to Samantha is undeniable. Angela, however, is not about to let the love of her life go without a fight.

When desperation takes a tragic turn, a chain of events unfolds that changes the course of all three of their lives forever. It is a heartbreaking tale of true love, terrible timing, impossible choices, and how you find the strength to go on when you discover that, sometimes, love just isn't enough...

3.0 out of 5 stars Big Letdown! November 29, 2011
By JMdona
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
...Did the novel have a satisfying ending?

NO!!! I absolutely hate it when reality is translated as tragic ending. I like happily ever after which is why I read fiction in the first place. I wish Tony had developed a backbone and Samantha had discarded her martyrdom so they could have ended up with a life together. The ending was so maddening that after buying the book, I deleted it in disgust. The deceiver wins in the end...to hell with that. Book was well written, just not my cup of tea! For Tony to be so intune with life and nature he sure was clueless about human nature!

4.0 out of 5 stars Its a good read July 20, 2011
By Adri
Format:Kindle Edition
When Love Isn't Enough is a very well-written book. The book started off slow for me because I didn't relate to the characters. However, several chapters into the story, I began to really feel for the characters. When Love Isn't Enough is unique in the fact that it doesn't have a fairy tale ending. Instead, the ending is more true to real life. I was slightly disappointed in the ending. I am a hopeless romantic, so I did want everything to work out for the main character in the end. I felt like the story was a little bit unbalanced. Because the relationship takes place in such a short amount of time, a large portion of the book is devoted to a shorter space of time. Then the prologue tries to wrap everything up in a matter of pages. Overall, I did enjoy reading this book. And Stephanie Casher's writing successfully pulled me into the story and made me root for the characters. I would definitely read the sequel to find out what else happens in Samantha's life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Read June 8, 2011
Format:Paperback
I read When Love Isn't Enough in a day! The book pulled on emotions of wanting what you can't have and being locked in a loveless relationship. We all wish for fairytales and wind up with reality instead. This was a wonderful book. Great Job Stephanie Casher! This is my second The Pantheon Collective (TPC) author that I've read and I believe they have an AWESOME arsenal of talent. I can't wait for the next book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book! March 21, 2011
Format:Paperback
When Love Isn't Enough isn't the type of book I typically read. However, I loved the title and the idea of having a book that's plotline revolves around that concept so I entered to win it on Goodreads...and I won! It was the first and only book I've won on there so I was super excited about getting. Once I recieved it though it sat on my to be read pile for several weeks. Finally, I decided I should go ahead and read it since the author (Stephanie Casher) was nice enough to give it to me and also sign it. So I read it and....ABSOLUTELY LOVED it!!
It had everything a good book needs; a great storyline, wonderful characters, a tragic love story, and a strong lead female. Samantha and Tony's love story is real and geniune. They have the type of love that everyone dreams of having, which makes it that much heartbreaking to sit back and watch all of the complications that arise in their relationships. While I didn't agree with several of Tony's decisions I did understand why he made them. He was put in an impossible situation and did what he thought he had to do and I could understand where he's coming from. Often in relationships people feel obligated to stay with a person just because they don't want to hurt the other person but unfortunately in the end staying with someone to keep from hurting them only makes everyone involved miserable which is evident in Tony's story.
Now several days later I still think about the book which is a sure-fire sign of a great book. I am anxiously awaiting the sequel to come out this summer and definitely recommend this book to anyone, even if this isn't your typical read!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous and engaging story! January 4, 2011
Format:Paperback
"When Love Isn't Enough" is a truly honest coming-of-age romance. The balance between character development and "action" in a romance novel seems to be difficult for most authors to get. Not so for Ms. Casher. The characters are real, alive and far from the tritely perfect heroes/heroines often seen this genre. Add to great characters the fact that the story moves at an enjoyable pace, gives you a book that is really hard to put down!

While the book is described as a "tragic love story", that seems too narrow to explain the scope of Samantha and Tony's story. These are characters who can be tragic and joyous, naive and wise and will continue to make you wonder what will happen next. This novel truly has something for everyone; tragedy, comedy, personal growth or just a great, engaging story to curl up with on a rainy day. I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars wow January 23, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This story just sucks you in against your will. I tried to read it detached but the emotions run high the pain is incredible. I felt hopeless at some points. The story is incredible. This is the first book I've read from this authoress and I'm looking forward to the sequel. I won't lie I'm pissed off but it doesn't have to have a happy ending to be a good book. This wasn't a perfect ending but its a great story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real December 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was a well written story, both heart warming and heart breaking. All about true love being sabotaged by the past. Let this story stand as a lesson to all men, he'll hath no fury worse than a woman who can't let go. Ladies when it's over keep your pride and dignity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Reality Check..... January 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Just finished reading "When Love Isn't Enough"...prior to reading the book I read some of the reviews "after" I had made the purchase. Well, Being that I am one that has to have the fairy tale ending at the end of my stories..I was tempted not to finish the story once I found out that there was not one. However, since I'd already read the first 3 chapters and loaded it on my kindle, I'd finish it. All I can say is kudos to Ms. Casher for not giving in to the trend of "Happily Ever After", but choosing to follow her own style. The story line was one that I identified with and the characters were like people I've come across in my life's journey. The fact that the story hit soo close to home and that the ending is my current reality, is what really floored me. I will say that Samantha and Tony's story show how making certain choices not only affect you, but those that are involved in your life. Good, bad or indifferent, there will be consequences following those choices and sometimes, no matter how much you wish to change them, it may be too late. But it also, shows that after all the pain, Samantha had to make the choice to follow her love or the wisdom of leaving a toxic situation behind no matter how much it hurt. I laughed, cried and got angry as I read the story, but in the end I take away the lesson that even though other peoples choices may bring turmoil to our lives, it's how we handle it that makes the difference in how our own story will turn out.
I read the excerpt for "Soul Mates" and look forward to the continuation of Samantha's journey in opening her heart to love again.
Thanks Ms. Casher for sharing your gift.
