He tells Mandy he give her a year to make up her to sort out her life, now he wants a year to make their marriage work, he moves into her apt. Still giving her the space she needs hoping she will realize that she loves him as much as he loves her. Everytime she finds herself getting close to telling Zach how she feels she tells her self taht her mothe died because she loved her father. Zach is hurt in and accident and when it time for him to leave the hopspital Mandy has hard choices to make, she runs out on Zack, telling him taht divorce is the best thing for them. After a talk withher brother-in-law and being slaped around by her father as he did when she was 12, the light comes own. She goes to the hospital and tell Zack taht she has always loved him but been afraid to let her feeelings show, taht she is ready to be a real wife live where ever he want her to live and start a family. The old song says "WHEN A MAN LOVE A WOMAN, CAN'T KEEP HIS MIND ON NOTHING ELSE". Zack was this kind of man. Mandy & Zack with their supporting charters have a wonderful story. It's real .

3.0 out of 5 stars Was my waiting in vain?, February 28, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: When a Man Loves a Woman (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
I have always been a Bette Ford fan and anxiously awaited this book. She's among my favorite authors. Man, was I disappointed. The heroine, Amanda, got on my last nerve! How could a grown woman, a successful interior designer be so silly? Why would she think, a man such as Zach who has always been there for her, not really love her. Okay, so they slept together, created a baby that she lost. Did that automatically mean that he was lost as well? And why couldn't she believe that he love her, especially after NOT filing for divorce when she left him. This woman was not a strong black woman. When I read about romance, where there's drama, I expect for them to overcome and succeed despite the obstacles. In this novel, I wanted Zach to just leave her and move on! AAAAAHHHHH!

On the level of sensuality, I will give this book a 5. That much, Ms. Ford did manage to achieve. Zach was a very handsome, creative and sexy man. He deserved better than Amanda.

And why, WHY must we always have to deal with a crazy mother in-law? That's another thing that peeded me off. Amanda should have told Zach from the begining. Dang, when you marry, you leave your parents and your spouse become priority, after God. Duh!!

I hope the next novel Ms. Ford pens will be of the same calibur that we've come to expect of her.

This book was too HOT!! I completely enjoyed the scenes between Mandy and her Husband/Bestfriend Zach. Zach was devoted to Mandy no matter what and he gave her the time to get over the problems that she was suffering. Fed up that she was giving up on them, Zach forced himself back into her life and showed her what it felt like to be loved. The passion in this book had me turning pages reading excitely awaiting the next sensuous scene.More authors need to get advice from Bette on how to write a sexual romance novel, because girlfriend has it all down pack.
