4.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended reading for women as well as men., August 4, 1998
This review is from: When Men are Pregnant (Paperback)
Most books on pregnancy are written for women - and rightly so, but mostly there is a man involved somewhere and he can be forgotten in the excitement. This book addresses the concerns of men before and after conception - particularly their emotional concerns. I bought it for my husband, but have read it myself. Now I have a better understanding of what he is worried and excited about. It has helped us address issues that otherwise may not have brought into the open. If you are thinking about starting a family - read this book - there's a great chapter on "the decision". If you're already cooking - read it now. There are chapters that deal with each trimester and the birth itself. Reading this book can improve your communication as a couple and may help prevent some issues later on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent discussion of how to relate to your wife, January 10, 2001

This review is from: When Men are Pregnant (Paperback)
This is the one book, of the many I read during our first pregnancy, that sticks with me as influential and helpful. Understanding my feelings and my wife's feelings and how they relate is difficult enough without help. I thought the author did an excellent job helping me understand the stresses going on during our pregnancy. That way I could feel much more comfortable even when my wife said things like, "Don't touch me!" or hurls every morning. I've recommended this book to others, but can't seem to find a copy anywhere. I loaned mine to a friend who loaned it to someone else, and now I can't get another one. Hang on to this one!

This review is from: When Men are Pregnant (Paperback)
I picked this book up after we found out that we were expecting. Very good book. It felt great to read the author's (and his subjects') take on things and find out that what I was dealing with was pretty normal. I'd mention: I read through the whole thing and there are definitely some things that happened to other men in the second and third trimester that I've been dealing with in the first; of course, these are all emotional and internal things. I recommend reading through the second and third trimesters despite your not being in them yet for that reason.
