Great for learning to deal with separation,
By
This review is from: When I Miss You (The Way I Feel Books) (Paperback)
My husband is in the military and all of the grandparents live far away, so I got this book to start helping my daughter (3) and son (2) deal with the separation and how to open up to me about their feelings.
Whenever my husband is away, my daughter goes for this book as one of her nightly reading stories, so I know she is dealing with her sadness and learning to communicate with me. She will mention little things here and there, and drop lines from the story as well. I feel it will become a staple for my son as well.

Someone suggested this book for our kids when my wife found out she had to go on a week long business trip. I read this cute and comforting book to our 3 year-old while mommy was gone. The art work and the textual content are well done.

Universal,

This review is from: When I Miss You (Way I Feel) (Library Binding)
My 2.5 yr old loves this book. I love it for how I think it helps her. We have moved 5 times, and lived in 3 cities in 3 states since she was born. I mostly bought it for when she had to get used to her 2nd day care center. She was feeling my stress and we both needed to calm down and give understanding our feelings priority.
The book is very universal in its message. It can be read as missing anyone for any reason and offers ideas for understanding and taking care of the feelings of "missing you" in anyone's unique situation. My daughter likes the animal characters too. Illustrations are very supportive of the words and message.

Missing someone can be a heartbreaking experience, especially for a toddler. This book uses various scenario's that a child can relate to on many levels. A good read!

I recommend all the books written by this author. I think children need to understand that their feelings are normal, and I think these books help teach that.

I thought this book was wonderful. We read it with our Two year old and threes that don't separate very easily.

I got this book because my 3 year old had just started pre school and was having trouble adjusting. He started acting out at school and would complain of missing us (me, dad, grandma) all day long. So I got this book and "When I feel Angry". We read them everyday for a week, along with alot of one on one talks and special time. I must say that his behavior improved drastically after that week.
I like that the book is simple and the characters are cute animals so that children of every race can identify with.

We got this for my son who has been telling me every day that he misses me when I am at work. There are quite a few universal illustrations of occasions when kid would miss someone and suggestions on what to do--to hug a plush animal, to read, to do something else...illustrations of sweet guinea pig are adorable. The main message is that "when I miss you, I know you will be back soon".

Very good book for kids who have separation anxiety or for families going through divorce. Most books for kids about divorce and separation are inappropriate, this book is very light and good for all ages
