5.0 out of 5 stars Cher remixed again!, February 19, 2003
By
This review is from: When the Money's Gone/Love One Another (Audio CD)
This is the 3rd US commercially released single from Living Proof. This is actually the 5th single to be released worldwide following "The Music's No Good Without You", "Alive Again"(Germany only),"Song For The Lonely" and "A Different Kind Of Love Song". The cd features 2 songs remixed to different degrees of success.I am giving this cd 5 stars only for Cher alone. I would have chosen "Alive Again" or "Love One Another" as the main track for release but I am not Warner Brothers. The track "When The Money's Gone" was already a dance floor hit in the mid 90's by the producer of this song -Bruce Roberts and then covered by him for the Flawless movie as a duet with Kristine W and Elton John. So for the 3rd go round you get the remixes by Brother Brown with the H & H Vocal Mix(8:06) and Dynamo Mix(7:37). The H& H mix is not a bad mix but the second mix the Dynamo mix is weird. It is like Cher is fronting Kraftwerk or some euro 70's electronic act. The Passengerz club mix(7:20) is very well suited to the vocals of this song. The Thick Dick Vs. Cher Bootleg Mix (8:09) is a vocal dub. I think it samples the Stella Browne remix of "Gotta get Thru This" by Daniel Bedingfield. The best mix of this song is the Manny Lehman Vocal Mix(9:26). Part Nrg/Big Room this mix is what Cher is all about. The second track is a remake of the number one club hit from 2000 by Amber. The lyrics are more secular this time and suit her very well. This comes with 3 mixes. The Eddie Baez Club Mix(8:49) is more laid back and slower in house style. The J Star Club Mix(8:49) is house with a slight trance thrown in. The best mix is the Glenn Friscia & Lamboy Club Mix(9:43). This suits Cher more than the other mixes here. Great remix.

5.0 out of 5 stars ahhhh The CHER!, February 21, 2003
By
This review is from: When the Money's Gone/Love One Another (Audio CD)
This CD is very different from "Song for the Lonely" and "Different Kind of Love Song." "When the Money's Gone" gets a total makeover. The sound is almost creepy @ times, yet you can't help but listen. Cher's voice is very crisp and clear. AHHHH it's GREAT! Personally, I think "Love One Another" is the better song on the CD. Maybe I'm alone in this, but I think it's a fairly strong anti-war song. I mean, listen to the lyrics. Yes, they are kind of simple, but it echos the peaceful vibe that we need right now. My favorite remix is the Star Club Remix. It has the vocoder voice thing going on, and what can I say I love that! Honestly, I think there could have been even MORE done w/the two songs. Maybe even some more variety, but it's still a strong CD. If this is indeed Cher's last single, she's going out in good fashion. It's full of fun, laughs, and a touch of shimmer and shine! And c'mon, get you get more "Cher" then that?

The remixes to When The Money's Gone, and Love One Another are awsome! When the money's gone remixes darkened the song up and made it more house sounding, Great for clubs, and parties. I recommend it for anyone who like Cher and/or dancing!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Cher Ep!! Rocks!!, March 31, 2004
This review is from: When the Money's Gone/Love One Another (Audio CD)
After going through all the ''Living Proof'' Maxi-Singles-- there couldn't have been a better way to close it off, mainly because this Maxi-Single is one of the best from the year 2003 (Dare I say, the best remixes from the ''Living Proof'' album).

The remixes of ''When The Money's Gone'' are...

Brother Brown's Mixes-- which are similar to those he did for Madonna's ''Die Another Day'' project, overall both remixes are good but they make nothing in comparison to the rest of the mixes here.

The Passengerz Club Mix-- is a temperate synth/electro mix with a huge improvement over the 80's sound system. Also my second favorite off this maxi-single, plus her vocals sound absolutely perfect on this mix. Excellent!

Thick Dick -Vs- Cher Bootleg Mix-- is my favorite here, it starts off with an outdated/clapping sound, at first you think ''What the hell is this?'', when the next minute this major beat comes smashing it's way through the song, turning it into a immense stomping stream, as her over-looped voice works it way through, it's got a major rave build-up too!. Damn It! what an impressive remix!-- Bootleg is exactly the right word to describe it. It'll definitely set your shoes on fire!!.

Manny Lehman Vocal Mix-- Is another great version of the song, however a nice way to single out some of the brooding work, it's also got a bit of tripping beats going on, with a great flow, and Cher's vocals sound completely different to the original version.

Then we get three B-Side remixes of ''Love One Another''.

J Star's Club Mix-- would easily please fans of her vocoder experiments, with a brooding house stream that makes this one of the more serious mixes here.

Eddie Baez Club Mix-- sounds allot like the (House Mix) of Sade's dance floor hit ''Pearls'', as-well it's rather a very timid mix, probably if a good DJ speeded it up and threw in some subjective enhancements, it'd sound better.

Fiscia & Lamboy Club Mix-- is the best version of this song, way much better than the speedy original version, plus Cher's verses sound dominating and convincing. Excellent.

If you're a fan of Annie Lennox's, Sarah McLachlan's or Madonna's dance music, then this is the perfect thing to buy. Great Maxi-Single with lots of Remixes!!!!!!.

5.0 out of 5 stars NOW WHO'S THE QUEEN OF DANCE, February 19, 2003
By
This review is from: When the Money's Gone/Love One Another (Audio CD)
Where do I start? First BELIEVE gave her a new lease on life (not like she really needed it). Then STRONG ENOUGH was another chart topping, feet moving dance number. Then she released ALL OR NOTHING (with DOV'E L'AMORE). On the cd itself were other songs that were as much fun as the other dancable hits. Songs like TAKIN' BACK MY HEART and RUNAWAY.
Then she releases her next and best cd LIVING PROOF. First she released the tribute to the survivors of 9/11: SONG FOR THE LONELY (which she released into some very interesting dance remixes). Then came A DIFFERENT KIND OF LOVE SONG, along with THE MUSIC'S NO GOOD WITHOUT YOU. Both songs were combined onto one collection of dance remixes that rocked! Then the newest release: WHEN THE MONEY'S GONE with LOVE ONE ANOTHER. Another great collection of supurbly assembled dance/house music.
This woman constantly reinvents herself. She has now become the current QUEEN OF DANCE (sorry Gloria Estefan).

5.0 out of 5 stars "Will you still be there/when the money's gone?", July 12, 2006
By
This review is from: When the Money's Gone/Love One Another (Audio CD)
Can Cher do no wrong? The woman's remixes are always great, like Madonna. And their single prices are the same! How weird is that? "When the Money's Gone" has the very best remix ever made by Thick D**k (Thick D**k vs Cher Bootleg Mix), the lighter-sounding Manny Lehman Remix (a MAJOR turn from his other remixes), plus 2 Brother Brown gems. "Love One Another" sounds VEEERY similar to a RuPaul song, in the subject matter and lyrics. It has a fantastic mix by Eddie Baez, a house/trance mix by J Star, and a great Friscia & Lamboy remix.
I also recommend:
Believe
All or Nothing
Song for the Lonely
A Different Kind of Love Song

PS: Kristine W did the first version in 2000. I prefer Cher's version, though.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Diva keeps it going!, March 16, 2004
By
This review is from: When the Money's Gone/Love One Another (Audio CD)
This 3rd US-only double A-side CD-Maxi from her 'Living Proof' album is propably the best of all the 5 singles from the album. Unfortunately the remixes aren't that good.
My favourites are the Friscia & Lamboy Club Mix of 'Love One Another' and The Passengers Club Mix of 'When The Money's Gone'.

5.0 out of 5 stars If Money Looked Like That I'd Be Spending Like Crazy!!..., February 14, 2003
This review is from: When the Money's Gone/Love One Another (Audio CD)
The crooning crone is back with what's essentially a 12" cd-single of silly remixes (performed in English). Those who purchase this awferring will be treated to five (count 'em!) club mixes of "When The Money's Gone"---Brother Brown H&H Vocal Mix(8:06), The Passengerz Club Mix(7:29), Thick Dick (Oh My!) Vs. Cher Mix(8:09), Manny Lehman Vocal(9:26) and Brother Brown Dynamo Mix(7:37). This cd also contains three club mixes of "Love One Another"---Eddie Baez Club Mix(8:49), J Star Club Mix(8:05) and Friscia & Lamboy Club Mix(9:43).

I must admit, I'm not a huge fan of Cher but these remixes made me get up a DANCE. And as much as I dislike Cher's political palaverings and inane observations on just about any subject, these remixes have a groooove to them. I still have trouble believing the old coot can dance herself, but I'd be willing to put the Colonel up as ante that these remixes would do the trick. Heck, I'm havvin a herd enuf tayim typpping wit all de giorationz I ben douin' wit dis dancistuff rattlin uff da stereeeo. Good enuff tu danz to, fo shooooore.
