About the Artist

Multi-platinum selling Jackyl has long since validated itself as America's Rock Band and will be proving it once again with the release of "When Moonshine and Dynamite Collide" in May 2010. Specialists in down and dirty blue-collar rock and roll, Jackyl has delivered an album that sounds exactly like Jackyl, except that it's one notch louder. "This album is a crunchy slab of rock and roll with a mouthful of Georgia Dirt," Dupree explains. "We're looking forward to hitting the road this year and taking these tunes to the stage." Jackyl's legacy of its wild, untamed and uncouth approach to rock 'n' roll is well established. The band hit the scene and immediately began firing off rock radio hits like "Down On Me," "When Will It Rain," "I Stand Alone," and most notably, "The Lumberjack" during which Dupree performs a chain-saw solo. The introduction of Jackyl's fifth instrument on album and in concert quickly became one of the band's many trademarks as the group blazed a path to infamy, sharing the stage with Aerosmith, Kiss, ZZ Top, Ted Nugent and Damn Yankees and working with industry heavyweights such as John Kalodner. AC/DC's Brian Johnson would go on to lend his vocals to the track "Locked And Loaded" which still stands as his only contribution outside of AC/DC recordings. The band has earned two Guinness Book of World Records citations and the designation "The Hardest Working Band in Rock 'N' Roll" for performing 100 shows in 50 days as well as 21 shows in 24 hours. Staying true to their working band roots, Jackyl is a staple on the summer festival circuit and maintains their commitment to every show being the sonic equivalent to a man being shot out of a cannon. Jackyl was recently featured on the hit TruTV show "Full Throttle Saloon," which was created and executive produced by Jesse James Dupree, and the band will be headlining an extensive tour through 2010 in support of the new album.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Elegant Discourse On The Human Condition It's Not, May 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Jesse James Dupree isn't out to change the world. He doesn't really think that rock music can bring about world peace. He does however believe that loud rock and roll music can set you free, give you an excuse to have fun and go a little crazy. He could also care less about fitting in and rather or not he is fawned over by critics. Heck, he won't even explain "Just Like A Negro" to those who choose to be offended. If you don't take the time to investigate the lyrics and find about the song's origins, he figures the heck with you. Only Jesse wouldn't say heck. If you like it loud and fast with a little southern fried attitude, my advice to you is to buy this album, GET MAD AT IT and turn it up to eleven.

5.0 out of 5 stars JACKYL back in from the cold, May 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: When Moonshine & Dynamite Collide (Audio CD)
If you like Jackyl, you will love this.. Probably closer to 4.5 stars but I have a soft spot for these southern rockers. They always have a way of puttin a smile on my face. Makes me proud to be a white boy. Just very glad to have something new again from the band, but didnt expect it to be excellent. I am very pleased.

The title track is great! Excellent southern tinged drinking song. JJD sings it excellent as well. 'She's not a Drug' is killer! Classic Jackyl, great radio-driving song. 'Get Mad At It' rocks hard. 'Just Like Negro' is classic jack-style as well.

The other tracks work too, I just see no point in mentioning every song. Cool attitude, lyrics and guitar driven songs. If you like them, just get it. Probably their best since the debut. And that is no joke. I own all their stuff, and most was hit or miss. This is 85% HIT! Good production and the guys sound fresh and revived. Much better than Relentless.

Another excellent 2010 release. Rock On Jackyl.
