4.0 out of 5 stars Spiffy new collection of instrumentals from Innocence Mission guy, June 14, 2006

Don Peris has taken a departure from his band The Innocence Mission to record a fine collection of gentle, melodic instrumentals featuring his excellent guitar work (and he plays nearly everything else too). These themes are by turns grand, nostalgic, quaint, romantic and beautiful. Don wrote just about all the tracks except for a lovely, meditative version of the Ravel Pavane. There are also a couple of vocal tracks along the way, "North Atlantic Sand," a duet with Karen Peris that could easily have come from an Innocence Mission album; and "Young As You Feel," with Denison Witmer. In all, Go When The Morning Shineth made for a very pleasurable listening experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars music for the soul, June 12, 2006
This review is from: Go When the Morning Shineth (Audio CD)
I love this beautiful cd!! Don's guitar is as it always has been - liquid, soothing, moving - but there is also a real joy expressed in these compositions. With or without the innocence mission, Don touches the heart.

4.0 out of 5 stars Take a deep breath..., April 16, 2009

Great to put on while working in the office, reading a book, or just chilling out. Almost all the songs are instrumental, and the couple that do have lyrics are very mellow.
If you're a fan of Peris' work with the Innocence Mission, I'm sure you'll enjoy this album as well. The only drawback (as is the case with many instrumental albums) is that the tracks are pretty short, and the whole album's playlength isn't all that long.

5.0 out of 5 stars something something, March 11, 2009
Sounds like hippie music to me. LOL, I freaking love it. I wish I can come up with this stuff on my own, but I can't. I can't come up with material this simple, yet so complex. Don, I hate you for your talent, but I love it. I can't wait to hear more.
