Great Music,

This review is from: When the Night Is New (Audio CD)
Being someone who loves all of the old standards, it is not often that you find an artist who is making music today that will floor you. Abigail Riccards caught my ear and she is great! Se has a wealth of talent to the likes of some of the artists from the past (Ella, Bllie,...) but with a twist that modern artist very rarely possess. I bought this CD along with a Madelein Peyroux album based on a friend's request and couldn't be happier with this purchase.

VERY VERY SATISFIED!!!,
This review is from: When the Night Is New (MP3 Download)
I bought this album for my father who is a real fan of classic jazz music. He is also one of the pickiest critics I have ever met! He absolutely loves the album. I do not know much about this stuff, but he said it reminded him of some if the true classic jazz greats! I think that he has been searching for a new voice to listen to, but up until this point, he simply was not satisfied with anything out there. Since receiving this CD last week, he has been raving nonstop. We truly couldn't be happier! Great buy!

I agree with the other reviews. This is a fantastic album-- especially a DEBUT album. I play it often, and often repeat it over again too! Riccards is a very lithe and warm singer. She doesn't need to twist and turn every song into some outré jazz excursion, but still creates a very
interesting and individual approach, and has a 'no muss no fuss' ability to swing. Also, I appreciate the wide areas given to the group to play-- very cool arrangements that manage to find some novel, or at least very intriguing aspects of mainly well-known standards. Not that easy to do. I like the 'folk jazz' approach on the Sting song too-- if that one is maybe a bit expendible to the set, but a minor quibble. I look forward to her new one: meanwhile, this album is very impressive.
