Totally inspiring !, September 14, 2005
This review is from: When The Pipers Play (DVD)
The bagpipes have always been surrounded in tradition , history , and an almost mystical allure . If you happen to be amongst those that find their somewhat disonant and haunting sounds appealing , this dvd is sure to please . Anyone who has ever been a part of making music in any capacity, is likely to find this dvd to be totally compelling and informative . The unexpected appearance of Phil Collins , as someone who was beguiled enough by the pipes to want to learn to play them, is a pleasant surprise. And for history buffs , the footage of "war pipes" , and those that carried them bravely into battle , contains some extraordinary, and often touching first person stories . Lastly - if you happen to actually be a piper , as I am , you can't help but feel proud to be part of this very real connection to the past, and to pipers all over the world . This compilation shows the magic and beauty of the pipes remains as strong as ever ! An excellent film.

Old Piper's Opinion, August 10, 2009
This review is from: When The Pipers Play (DVD)
The blend of Isla St Clair's vocals ,moving pipe tunes, and history of the pipes is fantastic. It is a must to own for people of Scottish heritage and wannabe Scots. If after the opening song by Isla and pipe tune by the massed band, you don't have tears in your eyes and the hair standing up on the back of your neck, you weren't paying attention.
