5.0 out of 5 stars A straight talk book about disaster preparation, November 13, 2008
By
This review is from: When All Plans Fail (Paperback)
Our family has been storing food, water, bedding etc. for years in anticipation of a natural or man-made disaster. When we read Dr. Paul William's book, "When All Plans Fail", we realized we had only scratched the surface. In this book we found lists of items we hadn't even thought of. It also stimulated us to put into action the preparation guidelines given in this book. It is well written in sequential order with easy to follow instructions. It is impressing in the coverage of family as well as community and church involvement. We can all have great peace of mind when following the instructions given. Make this a fun project for your whole family to work together in preparing your safe haven. You will be glad you did.

5.0 out of 5 stars When All Plans Fail, October 27, 2008
This review is from: When All Plans Fail (Paperback)
This book is certainly well timed considering the diversity and magnitude of disasters we are experiencing in our country and around the world. It expresses thoughts on disaster preparedness in a well developed ( using step by step guides ), easily understood way ranging from high level, broad based planning down to the individual level. The author treats the spiritual aspects of the book in such a way that is not offensive or overbearing, but quite thought provoking. In addition, the book has numerous lists of things to do, items to have and websites to visit that are relevent to each of us in order to get prepared for any kind of disaster.

There are numerous disaster related books, but the way this one addresses the various levels and ways to prepare has made me actually take steps toward preparing my family and looking at ways to get neighbors and friends involved as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hits the nail on the head, May 25, 2009

This review is from: When All Plans Fail (Paperback)
This book summarized what one needs to do when an emergency happens and how to prepare for emergencies. It not only describes what to do in case of a home emergency but also emergencies in weather, earthquates, economic, & social upheaval. Chapters are organized for easy reference to get a specific job done. Lists are provided in most chapters for handy, easy reference. Quanities are listed where need - generally according to number of people one might need to support for a specific timeframe. In addition, there are legal issues addressed - wills, medical records, etc - where they should and shouldn't be kept. Just an overall easy to use reference on how to make plans for any and all emergencies. I have since bought emergency food, medical supplies, and have revamped by record keeping for easy access based on the information supplied by Dr Williams! Just Excellent!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars HOW TO EAT AN ELEPHANT BITE BY BITE, August 13, 2009
By
This review is from: When All Plans Fail (Paperback)
My wife and I have long been concerned about disaster preparedness, but haven't known where to start... until now. The topic is daunting, but Dr. Williams takes us step by step (bite by bite) through the process with a 21- day plan we're still working on. He covers things one would expect, but includes items which only seem obvious when stated in his clear, clean style. Paul Williams has reduced a very difficult subject to something we can easily grasp. Perhaps more importantly the author gives us hope. When All Plans Fail is an extremely worthwhile book for troubling times. As my wife says, now that we've begun this we have more peace of mind.

For years our State Government has urged us to have emergency preparedness kits in case of natural disasters, such as earthquakes or storms and disruption in communications etc. This book finally gave us very helpful specific guidelines for exactly how and what to prepare. Not hard to do, but so many little things one would not think of. Every home needs this book if at all concerned about 'how' to prepare.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommend, April 13, 2011

This informative book is chock full of information. Besides the obvious, it recommends all sorts of things that the average person wouldn't even think about, like how to escape a subway. It tells us how to prepare for disaster if we work or live in a high rise building. Dr. Williams also talks about home security/crime prevention, self defense, first aid, sanitation and hygiene, care of elderly and handicapped individuals, important documents and how to store them, emergency communications, and much more. The checklists make it easy to see just how prepared you really are.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exhaustive and Well Planned, November 17, 2010

This book by Dr. Williams is an exhaustive discussion of the basic ingredients in a well-balanced family emergency plan. He covers all of the basic topics, and then some that you may not have thought about. Get a copy of the workbook by the same title which will help you put his plans into motion. I just completed my family's emergency planning notebook and used this book as my basic guide. It is wise to read a few other books on this subject and consult the Home Land Security and FEMA websites for supplemental and more detailed info in some areas as well. Have the peace of mind knowing that your family will be prepared for whatever comes.
