Alphas 2 Seasons 2012

Season 2
4.5 out of 5 stars (878) IMDb 7.3/10

Season 2 picks up eight months after last year's finale with the stage set for an explosive turn of events at the Binghamton facility (the Guantanamo of the Alpha world) that could have devastating, far-reaching consequences. Dr. Lee Rosen (Emmy Award-winner and Academy Award-nominee David Strathairn), having exposed the existence of Alphas to the unsuspecting public, finds himself discredited and imprisoned by a government desperate to cover up his revelation. The rest of the core team has disbanded and some, without Rosen's guidance and care, have regressed to their old, destructive ways. They must now battle their individual demons in order to reunite and try to save their own.

I have seen 5 of the 13 total episodes slated for release. I'm glad that show wasn't cancelled and was renewed this season. Season 2 picks up where Season 1 left off, as Dr. Rosen and his team of ALPHAS investigate and track down Stanton Parish, the leader of "Red Flag:" a terrorist organization with a hidden agenda.

There are plenty of new surprises such as the introduction of new ALPHAS and character histories. For example, in episode 4, "When Push Comes to Shove," Nina's past is revealed and highlights how she used her gift to control others with dire consequences.

If you loved season 1, you gotta keep up with season 2!

Normally cliffhanger endings piss me off but in this case I will make an exception. Loved it! Love the character developement on this show. Love that they brought back Summer Glau. Love that they have Sean Astin. Love that the girls get to be the ones who save the world with their minds instead of the boys with their guns. Love all the new questions that this episode brought up. I can't wait for the new season!

The major reason I continue coming back to watch this show, week after week, is that it takes a new spin on superpowers. Take Gary for instance: he has a tremendously useful ability, but he's also autistic. Or Hicks, whose ability comes and goes with his confidence. They're normal people landed with extraordinary skills, and they deal with them as if we would. Not to say that other shows/series like X-Men or Heroes don't do this, but the way Alphas handles it makes it unique. Nearly every ability introduced has a very in-depth scientific explanation, and many of them seem entirely plausible! To me this creates a fresh spin to the superhero genre, and connects the extraordinary to our reality in a way much closer than other titles within the genre.

Basically: I love this show and hope others do too :D

All I can say is this had better not be the end or it will be the sorriest, saddest ending to a show I've ever seen. Got to admit though it makes for a very enticing cliffhanger.

Quirky and fun. Ryan Cartwright is my favorite character because he never changes. Always Gary the autistic young man that doesn't like to be touched and there is a certain order to the world and not to diviate from it. Stories a getting a little out the but it is syfy so that is what it is supposed to so. I enjoy this show a lot.
