Review

"...I knew going into this book that it wouldn't be a heart and flowers type of story. When I See You is emotionally charged and I felt every single moment." The Autumn Review

"...Jordan and Brock have an inordinate amount of bad karma going on...What pulls this story out of the hellish mire it could be stuck in, is this amazing thread of almost palpable hope that winds its way through the narrative..." Dana Burness - Let's Book It

"I love a book that touches my heart and keeps me thinking about the characters long after I have turned the last page. When I See You is exactly that kind of book." Cheles Bells - A Belle's Tales

"When I See You is yet another brilliant romance in which Katherine Owen proves that, not only can she create excellent characters, but she can put them through the wringer and make them come out on the other side as even better characters..."  Ellen Fritz - Books4Tomorrow

From the Author

One husband, one boy, one girl, two cats, and the ashes of one golden retriever who was loved well. Friends and family that are a bit on the dysfunctional side tends to lend to my active imagination quite nicely, providing me with concrete examples for my fiction. I spent a long while in high tech sales and spent money like Evian water and racked up useless stock options. In pursuit of a long-held dream, I gave up the high tech corporate life and now devote myself to writing fiction full-time. I write love stories that tend to be edgy and dark and #Iwillmakeyoucry. If you're not offended by the gentle sprinkling of swear words at what are 'necessary junctures', we're bound to be best friends. This way to my world: katherineowen(dot)net. xoxo KO

More About the Author

Katherine Owen is a former high tech sales warrior and public relations queen turned bestselling novelist which appears to be her true calling. Not one to back down from a challenge, Owen won an award for her debut novel, Seeing Julia, and has gone on to pen five more. Her books are not for the faint of heart. This is no easy fare, but if you enjoy heartbreak and angst mixed in with the joy in discovering one's soul mate, you might fall in love with her work. Described as dark, sometimes angst-filled reads, at the very least, tear-jerkers; Owen's novels will take you on an emotional roller-coaster ride. Prepare properly. Tissues, Advil nearby, and your beverage of choice in hand while reading are highly recommended. When she's not writing, Owen enjoys spending time with her family in an old house with a fantastic view gazing at Seattle from across the lake which seems to inspire more than distract the writer.

I have read all of Ms. Owen's books and enjoy the drama. Sometimes I think she gets a little too carried away with the trauma that occurs to her characters. I did enjoy this book alot. There is one particular trauma that I thought took it too far. The book could have done without. I will say the stories draw me in and its hard to put the book down. But sometimes I think the author is so excited to get to the next part in the story that she rushes the current plot. The end of the book is somewhat abrupt. The characters are loveable and sexy and the steamy scenes are intense and fun to read. As a military wife, the lack of research on military life and protocol was frustrating. The ranks were confused. US Navy does not have Colonels or Sgt or Majors. And and enlisted person is not the same as an officer. Not a deal breaker by any means, but exasperating that it was very off base in the military details. Needed more research.

`When I See You' was an immensely powerful story and very emotionally driven. Truly moving. The protagonists were well developed and greatly believable in their thoughts, actions, character flaws and virtues. I was utterly immersed and completely engaged from start to finish.

As the author asked for feedback (Book Club Discussion section of ebook) I'd very much like to give my two cents worth in the hope that it may possibly aid her in becoming an even more remarkable storyteller. I only do this when I think it might be of some benefit to either the reader or writer. I don't do it to grind axes or vent.

I don't want to spoil the plot here; as a result, I won't go into much detail. That said I believe Ms. Owen will know what I refer to. Here goes:

I felt that what happed to `Max' at the lake was overkill (pardon the pun). It cast way too great a pall on an already gut wrenching story. In my opinion it was unnecessary and very nearly destroyed an otherwise first-rate work of literary art.

I believe the ending was too abrupt. Don't get me wrong, I did love it but I felt there needed to be more of a resolution. After all Brock and Jordan had been though I for one would have liked to get a glimpse onto the future. Personally I reckon that an epilogue told from the viewpoint of one the lesser characters (Possibly Ashleigh, Janie, or even Tad) could have made for a powerful and satisfying finish.

One thing I absolutely cannot flaw is the attention to emotional detail and character development. It was so believable to me.

Another thing I must praise, Ms. Owen's eloquence. This writer succeeds in being breathtakingly expressive without being tediously verbose.

All in all, I think the reader will thoroughly enjoy this book

I just finished this book last night after starting it in the morning! I would give it 4 1/2 stars-loved the story and it was so full of angst. I do love a good book with angst! The reason I didn't give it 5 is because I just couldn't take all that the h had to go through. One thing especially blind sighted me, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone. It was just a little to painful to take! I have read the other two books by this author and have really enjoyed them both! Will most definitely read other books by this author.

This book lost me more and more as it went on. I couldn't believe how many tragedies happened to the two main characters, and the last couple of chapters were just the final straw. It made it impossible to find any redeeming quality to the book and care whether they got a happy ending, because I was in shock that yet one more thing had happened. The only reason I give it even two stars is because the writing is decent.

"When I See You" is yet another brilliant romance in which Katherine Owen proves that, not only can she create excellent characters, but she can put them through the wringer and make them come out on the other side as even better characters. Jordan Holloway has everything; a good husband, a sweet little son, a promising career and a Malibu beach house. Lieutenant Brock Wainwright is Ethan Holloway's sniper partner in the army. Brock promises to keep Ethan safe for Jordan, but can such a promise be kept?

During the year covered by this book, Jordan learns that promises are lightly made but not often kept and Brock finds out that trust, once lost, must be earned before it can be given again. While she is still mourning the violent and tragic deaths of her parents, Jordan is flung into a world of unbelievable heartbreak as she loses more loved ones, her trust in Brock Wainwright and almost her own life. As though this isn't enough, she learns that one can feel betrayed by deceased loved ones.

Once again I was pleasantly surprised by the realistic characters this author creates. Not only are the main characters strong and unique but they are normal enough not to be above self-pity, dishonesty and pettiness. When one of the characters is blinded in the line of duty, his response to his condition as well as the reactions of those around him, is absolutely natural and realistic. I was extremely impressed with the accuracy with which Katherine Owen wrote about the subject of the newly blinded, which she must have researched thoroughly.

As she uses the first person narrative present to tell the story, I was there with the characters as they experienced their trials and joys.
