Book Description

She believes that love can never last, promises are usually broken, and true happiness is extremely elusive in the long run. He believes most risks are worth taking, the promises he makes can be kept, and love doesn't factor in his relationships any longer. They're both wrong.

Jordan Holloway has never fully recovered from the unexpected deaths of her famous Hollywood parents. At 27, she is still slow to trust and remains uncertain about the true duration of love and happiness. Yet, it's been four years since she fell in love with Ethan when he rocked her world even as he marched off to war leaving her alone with their young son Max. Now, Ethan tells her this will be his last tour in Afghanistan and that soon the three of them will be together. Anxious at Ethan's leaving again, Jordan extracts a promise for his safe return from Brock Wainwright, her husband's sniper partner and best friend. But can she put all her trust in Brock? Can he keep such a promise?

Brock Wainwright fully embraces the dangerous life of a Navy Seal. He enjoys the freedom in not being committed to anyone and there's been a long line of women who can attest to that. Yet, everything seems to change after Brock meets Jordan, Ethan's wife, for the first time. When the two men return to Afghanistan, Brock's intent on keeping his promise to Jordan--about keeping Ethan safe--for a variety of reasons, including the most disturbing one of all, he is more than just a little attracted to his best friend's wife. This revelation plagues Brock on the battlefield and in one violent moment changes everything.

PRAISE for WHEN I SEE YOU ★★★★★

"...I am surprised that this story hasn't received more praise and has not left a dent in the world. When I compare some of the books I've enjoyed to this, I have to shake my head...  This is a story that will make you feel anxiety, make you feel sad, make you hope that they find a happily ever after. This is a book that grows hair on your chest and makes you look at your life..." Obsessed Goodreads Review

"This book is not a fast pace 'on the edge of your seat' mystery, not an erotica, no vampires or make believe animals this book. It's simply an emotional roller coaster that I highly recommend to everyone..." JerseyGirl

If you enjoy the twists and turns of an epic love story, you've got to read When I See You.

Review

"...I knew going into this book that it wouldn't be a heart and flowers type of story. When I See You is emotionally charged and I felt every single moment." The Autumn Review

"...Jordan and Brock have an inordinate amount of bad karma going on...What pulls this story out of the hellish mire it could be stuck in, is this amazing thread of almost palpable hope that winds its way through the narrative..." Dana Burness - Let's Book It

"I love a book that touches my heart and keeps me thinking about the characters long after I have turned the last page. When I See You is exactly that kind of book." Cheles Bells - A Belle's Tales

"
When I See You is yet another brilliant romance in which Katherine Owen proves that, not only can she create excellent characters, but she can put them through the wringer and make them come out on the other side as even better characters..."  Ellen Fritz - Books4Tomorrow

From the Author

One husband, one boy, one girl, two cats, and the ashes of one golden retriever who was loved well. Friends and family that are a bit on the dysfunctional side tends to lend to my active imagination quite nicely, providing me with concrete examples for my fiction. I spent a long while in high tech sales and spent money like Evian water and racked up useless stock options. In pursuit of a long-held dream, I gave up the high tech corporate life and now devote myself to writing fiction full-time. I write love stories that tend to be edgy and dark and #Iwillmakeyoucry. If you're not offended by the gentle sprinkling of swear words at what are 'necessary junctures', we're bound to be best friends. This way to my world: katherineowen(dot)net. xoxo KO

3.0 out of 5 stars Captivating read, lots of drama...maybe too much. April 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have read all of Ms. Owen's books and enjoy the drama. Sometimes I think she gets a little too carried away with the trauma that occurs to her characters. I did enjoy this book alot. There is one particular trauma that I thought took it too far. The book could have done without. I will say the stories draw me in and its hard to put the book down. But sometimes I think the author is so excited to get to the next part in the story that she rushes the current plot. The end of the book is somewhat abrupt. The characters are loveable and sexy and the steamy scenes are intense and fun to read. As a military wife, the lack of research on military life and protocol was frustrating. The ranks were confused. US Navy does not have Colonels or Sgt or Majors. And and enlisted person is not the same as an officer. Not a deal breaker by any means, but exasperating that it was very off base in the military details. Needed more research.

4.0 out of 5 stars I could read this book twice April 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
`When I See You' was an immensely powerful story and very emotionally driven. Truly moving. The protagonists were well developed and greatly believable in their thoughts, actions, character flaws and virtues. I was utterly immersed and completely engaged from start to finish.

As the author asked for feedback (Book Club Discussion section of ebook) I'd very much like to give my two cents worth in the hope that it may possibly aid her in becoming an even more remarkable storyteller. I only do this when I think it might be of some benefit to either the reader or writer. I don't do it to grind axes or vent.

I don't want to spoil the plot here; as a result, I won't go into much detail. That said I believe Ms. Owen will know what I refer to. Here goes:

I felt that what happed to `Max' at the lake was overkill (pardon the pun). It cast way too great a pall on an already gut wrenching story. In my opinion it was unnecessary and very nearly destroyed an otherwise first-rate work of literary art.

I believe the ending was too abrupt. Don't get me wrong, I did love it but I felt there needed to be more of a resolution. After all Brock and Jordan had been though I for one would have liked to get a glimpse onto the future. Personally I reckon that an epilogue told from the viewpoint of one the lesser characters (Possibly Ashleigh, Janie, or even Tad) could have made for a powerful and satisfying finish.

One thing I absolutely cannot flaw is the attention to emotional detail and character development. It was so believable to me.

Another thing I must praise, Ms. Owen's eloquence. This writer succeeds in being breathtakingly expressive without being tediously verbose.

All in all, I think the reader will thoroughly enjoy this book

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good book! January 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I just finished this book last night after starting it in the morning! I would give it 4 1/2 stars-loved the story and it was so full of angst. I do love a good book with angst! The reason I didn't give it 5 is because I just couldn't take all that the h had to go through. One thing especially blind sighted me, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone. It was just a little to painful to take! I have read the other two books by this author and have really enjoyed them both! Will most definitely read other books by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing !!!! March 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is my first book from Katherine Owens but it will not be my last. What an amazing story. The characters came to life from the very first page. You will find yourself caught up in this story. So much so you will not want to put it down. Not even to sleep. I would give this more stars if I could but five is as high as it goes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, Heart-warming story! May 15, 2012
Format:Paperback
It was a whirlwind romance. Jordan, an amazing chef, met the gorgeous Ethan Holloway when she exasperatingly confronted the man who kept sending his food back to the kitchen. Ethan swept Jordan off her feet, married her, and, before she could catch her breath, she became a mother to their first child. Almost every woman's fantasy... well, maybe not the part where Ethan Holloway is a Navy Seal and spends the majority of his time away from his family. The brave soldier loves Jordan and their son Max more than anything in the world - a love shared only with serving his country. They have been married for 1,428 days, and, out of those 1,428 days, have only spent 297 of them together. And now he's leaving... again.

Ethan and his best friend/snipe partner Brock Wainwright had one more tour in Afghanistan. The week before they leave, Ethan brings Brock to spend that last week with his family. He wanted Jordan to meet his best friend and Brock to meet his best girl. When Brock looked at Jordan, he saw her. Really saw her. Saw to the very depths of her soul. Saw who she was, who she wanted to be, and, most of all, the part of her that she tried to hide from everyone else in her life. So, when Jordan asked Brock for his promise to bring Ethan back home... he only hesitated for a moment before saying yes.

But it was a promise Brock shouldn't have made, and it was a promise he wasn't able to keep.

Jordan and heartbreak have been fast and furious friends since she was 17 years old. She was the daughter of bigger-than-life, famous, Oscar-winning parents. Loving parents who were slain in the most horrible, gruesome ways one can imagine - the details of which were covered up and known only by Jordan and the police.
