3.0 out of 5 stars Cute Story
I enjoyed this book, it was a cute story but I felt there could have been so much more depth to it. Just wasn't quite meaty enough for me.

I also found it a little hard to believe that a man like Howard "Cash" Bradford would have a girl like Delilah around just for 'eye candy' and that a girl like Delilah trying to prove everyone is wrong about her, would...

4.0 out of 5 stars Ms. Banks Is Back With Another Good Read!!!, February 17, 2004
This review is from: When She's Bad (Warner Forever) (Mass Market Paperback)
We briefly met Delilah Montague in Ms. Banks first book "Some Girls Do" now she has her own story and it's just as good as the previous read and cominbed laughs, romance, mystery and quirky characters into a very entertaining read.

Delilah has a bad girl reputation but at heart she is really a nice girl who keeps her promises and eventually these promises get her into trouble. After the death of her friend Cash she promises that she will look out for his daughter Lilly, run the spa, and keep his secret about their personal life. Delilah never slept with Cash. Now all of her good intentions backfire on her. She is now responsible for Lilly which is turning out to be a spoiled brat, a new baby that is really Cash's, and now a blackmailer to boot. If all of this is not enough she is drawn to her nextdoor neighbor Benjamin Huntingdon who just so happens to be a member of one of the prominate local families. Problem is he makes her feel things that she knows is not in the best interest of him and his family.

Ben has just come back home after leaving on the East Coast and he has lost everything that he once thought was important. Then he meets his neighbor after she saves his bacon and he re-thinks the way he sees people and his place in life. He has now found the perfect woman for him, now he just has to prove to her that he is willing to spend his life with Dee despite her "bad-girl" image.

This book was very fun to read. Ms. Banks has a real talent for creating quirky likeable characters and at the same time not loosing sight of the plot of the story or the path that her characters take. Again she manages to create some nice secondary charcters and both couples really add to the telling of the story at the same time having their own storylines that are fun to read. Ms. Banks is a great author and you will be guaranteed an fun read if you pick up one of her stories

Ben appreciates Delilah's physical attributes but also recognizes her goodness and character. His campaign to win her heart through kindness and romance makes the book a great read. As an added bonus, Banks has included two other romances featuring four well-developed secondary characters. And each chapter begins with a "Delilah's Dictum," a memorable axiom by which the heroine lives (e.g., "Word to the wise: Don't go into a catfight with long hair and acrylic nails. You'll lose both.") Banks' witty dialogue, hot love scenes, and heart-warming storyline make this a keeper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love another great Leanne Banks book!, November 8, 2003
This review is from: When She's Bad (Warner Forever) (Mass Market Paperback)
For anyone who has ever laughed and cried and loved a Leanne Banks book, don't miss this one!
Yes, like her wonderful Silhouette Desires this book is hot. But that's one of the things that makes Leanne's books so great! There's a tough heroine that learns to be a little softer when a baby and a hunk show up in her life. Funny and heart-warming! And do NOT miss Deliah's Dictums! Fabulous and worth reprinting by themselves!
Hooray for Leanne! She's done it again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Leanne does it again!, October 28, 2003
By
Marilyn Puett (Huntsville, AL, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: When She's Bad (Warner Forever) (Mass Market Paperback)
Leanne Banks is back with her second single title from Warner Forever and she hits the road running with the story of sexy Delilah Montague.

Delilah had a smile that opened doors and a body that stopped traffic. She was raised first by her mother Sunny, who entered wet t-shirt contests to earn grocery money and then later by her evangelist father whose Bible thumping made Delilah feel less than worthy of love. When she met millionaire Howard Bradford, her life changed for the better. Howard used Delilah as "arm candy" to draw attention away from his impotence. But he also taught her about business and put her in charge of his excusive spa. Delilah flourished under his tutelage and after Howard died, she became the majority stockholder. No one believed that Delilah knew anything about business and rumors flew about how she'd "really" attained her position at the spa. No matter what, she couldn't shed her bad girl image. Now, with Howard dead, she has to run the spa, honor a deathbed promise she made to Howard, and deal with her new neighbor, Benjamin Huntington III, who does home improvements in the middle of the night. It doesn't matter that he's tall, dark and hunky or that he's a member of a prominent Texas family or that he's probably got more integrity in his little finger than most men have in their whole body. She's not interested. Or is she?

When She's Bad has something for everyone - a bad girl, a rich boy, a baby and a dog, a girl with Clark Gable ears, a reluctant politician, blackmail, love, scandal, sex, and did I mention love? Each chapter starts with one of "Delilah's Dictums," clever maxims that will strike a chord and have you laughing out loud. The characters are lovable and you will find yourself reaching for your own champagne cocktail and M&Ms as you get lost in the pages of this hilarious romance that's full of passion and fun. Delilah is a woman that a kinda-bad-girl reader can fall in love with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great book By Leanne Banks, November 19, 2003

This review is from: When She's Bad (Warner Forever) (Mass Market Paperback)
Delilah Montague has had to work hard to overcome life's rocky punches. She is managing an exclusive spa that really runs her ragged and all she wants to do is get a good night sleep. Trouble is, her new neighbor likes to remodel and play Opera late at night. Benjamin Huntington III is now teaching law after quitting his job at a prestigious firm. Remodeling his condo was helping him to relieve stress. When Benjamin and Delilah met there are some major sparks. Benjamin has to really work to make Delilah believe in what they have is the real thing.

This book has such wit, charm and sass. Looking forward to the next book.

Oh, my god! I was looking for a light read, but this was terrible. Made for easily excitable teens. Boring and predictable plot, and oh, so shallow!

If Leanne Banks writes it I love it.
She is funny, sexy and a good story teller. Only problem is she doesn't write fast enough. I want to read more of her.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute Story, July 20, 2008
By
Deb "ddoo" (Austin, Texas USA) - See all my reviews
I enjoyed this book, it was a cute story but I felt there could have been so much more depth to it. Just wasn't quite meaty enough for me.

I also found it a little hard to believe that a man like Howard "Cash" Bradford would have a girl like Delilah around just for 'eye candy' and that a girl like Delilah trying to prove everyone is wrong about her, would live such a lie. Wasn't quite convinced either that a man who trusted Delilah so much wouldn't tell her about his son sooner, that if he loved his daughter so much he couldn't admit his 'problem' to her and if he was such a tough old coot he would let someone sleeze blackmail him.

It was a nice change though by the end of the book that Lilly came out of her shell and that Robert truly did love her and want her for his wife.

A nice quick read all in all.
