Editorial Reviews

Explicit Version. Knoxville, Tennesse based Straight Line Stitch traces its origins back to the turn of the millennium when a lineup vaguely recognizable from the modern-day membership presented a tag-team vocal style. This early shadow of the band laid the groundwork for a collective which is gradually improving via an assembly of the current members. Straight Line Stitch might previously have been known for their rather fast and heavy style, but the refinement of their music has been forged in an itinerary of relentless touring and the result is maturity as a band, in which they have improved their brand of metal significantly. Their signature sound has broadened over the years into a diverse amalgam of groove, hardcore, rock, thrash, and grind whose tonality runs the full spectrum of frantically random to upliftingly melodic, and their compositions strike a balance between accessibility for a wide general audience and progressiveness for more cerebral listeners.

The lyrics are soulful and make you think of things you have experienced.

I highly anticipate the next album because they have room to grow and I believe they will.

Alexis has one hell of a scream and a wonderful voice during the clean vocals.

This is truly one of those rare albums that you can play all the way through and not get tired of...an up-and-coming Metal band with their own unique sound they bring to the table. Check out other albums from Straight Line Stitch and you won't be disappointed.

This recommendation is aimed at those that actually do love their Metal.

This is one powerful album. Alexis's voice is rich and sweet at times, and knife-sharp and heavy at others. The lyrics are soulful and make you think of things you have experienced. This power rides on a wave of guitar and bass that pushes you along through the CD. The album is warm and bitter, powerful and friendly, all at once. I couldn't stop listening to this album when I bought it. Keep an eye out for their next album, "The Good Fight", coming out this summer.

Straight Line Stitch is a great band. The dichotomy of Alexis Brown's vocals could not work better. She goes from violent to serene flawlessly. I haven't found a band in a while that I never want to skip any tracks, but I always listen to this record all the way through. I even find myself sitting in parking lots waiting until a song is finished before I turn it off. That being said the standout tracks for me are Promise Me, Eucharist, Black Veil, What You Do To Me, and Yesterday's Gone. Promise Me, Eucharist, and Black Veil show off the juxtaposition of very heavy and very beautiful. Alexis has one hell of a scream and a wonderful voice during the clean vocals. What You Do To Me would have been a huge hit if they had the backing of one of the major labels and it got the airplay it deserves. There is no screaming on the track but the emotional delivery of the lyrics and the awesome bass line make it a very powerful song. Yesterday's Gone is the last song on the record and it's just Alexis and acoustic guitars. I think this really shows off the diversity of the band, it is a beautiful stripped down song that comes straight from the heart. The record doesn't include the lyrics and it can be hard to decipher some of the screaming but I was able to do so after about five times through the record. The lyrics are usually ambiguous enough that you can find your own meaning. For the most part they seem on the surface to deal with personal issues but some of them imply a deeper meaning. The production quality is top notch as well, it sounds fantastic on a good sound system. If you like heavy music and enjoy a good female vocalist you must check out this band. If you haven't already checked out the videos for Black Veil and What You Do To Me on Youtube please do so, I think you will enjoy them. I highly recommend this record, if you like what you hear please support them. It is obvious the are working very hard and they deserve to continue making records.

Let me just say that on the initial listen of this album i was just a little impressed...until I got to the song Yesterdays Gone. This is quite simply one of the most beautiful songs of any genre I have heard in quite some time, the lyrics are heart wrenching, deep and personal, and the accompanying acoustic guitar is perfect. I have since listened to the record a few more times and have found a lot to like,a pretty potent mix of nu metalish riffs, metalcore sounds, some definite hardcore influences, but unfortunately for me a noticeable lack of solos. I guess Ive got In This Moment if I want the whole package, but this is a cool listen nonetheless...the lead vocalist has some obvious skills and there is enough talent going on to interest me in a second release. The song Yesterdays Gone is so damn good,it was worth the price paid for the whole disc.

I just can't get enough of this band. Alexis Brown continues to blow me away with her hardcore vocals. She's growling like a demon at one point and then she sings totally melodically at another. Her vocal range amazes me. The band does not disappoint either, their hard driving guitars and thunderous drums round off what could be one of the best bands out there today.

I liked a few of the songs on this cd. Others were just okay. A little to much growling for me. I prefer In This Moment because they is a better mix of singing and screaming and their is more emotion in Maria's voice.

Straight Line Stitch kicks ass. This is their first full album with Alexis as lead and its my first album purchase in a while. Thats how good they are... I actually went online and had a CD snail mailed to me rather than buying the mp3! Give it a listen and you'll agree these guys rule.
