The Blenders do it again!,
By Janine Skinner (Phoenix, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: When It Snows (Audio CD)
When It Snows is a MUST HAVE for your collection! Filled with The Blenders incredible arrangements and harmonies, this CD will make you laugh, cry, and sigh with utter contentment. If you love NOG you will love this CD as well, it is every bit as good and (if my kids' reactions are any indication)even more fun. If you don't own NOG yet, you are totally missing out, you need to buy both of them right away! As an avid collector of Christmas music (a cappella and otherwise) I can assure you, it just doesn't get any better than this!!!

Perfect!,

I have to admit that I'm NOT a big fan of Christmas albums. But, these guys give it an extra upbeat kick. And their voices do, uh, blend (sorry, had to say it) so well. Had me tapping my feet and singing along the first time I heard it. Very proud of these guys who grew up where I did.

Not as good as Nog, but still Highly Recommended!,
By A Customer
This review is from: When It Snows (Audio CD)
I had to be one of the 1st in the Twin Cities to buy this album that I have been long waiting for. I ran and called all over town to find a copy in stock before they sold out in the first few days. It is nice to see local Minnesota (orginally S. Dakota) artists The Blenders reunited. We really miss the distinct and recognizable "mostly Acapella" sounds of these four guys. While this album does not quite reach the artistic highs of their previous Christmas album from several years ago, Nog, I still highly recommend it. I personally prefer the Blenders original ("When it Snows" and "Tiny Little Christmas") or highly modified versions of favorite Christmas tunes ("Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland" or "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town"). The surprise on the album is "Sleigh Ride", original lyrics by Tim Kasper and Darren Rust sung to the old rocker manta tune "Walk on the Wild Side". Most of the other songs on the album are sung straight-forward and traditional, which is somewhat disappointing. Don't get me wrong, the album is very good. But I prefer The Blenders upbeat, funny and bright vs the more mellow tones here. Still highly recommended, but I cannot bring myself to giving it more than 4 of 5 stars. Let's hope that these guys are back together, kick it in gear and start recording and touring on a regular basis again. We miss them.
