3.0 out of 5 stars Not geared towards the practicing therapist
As a therapist I was looking for practical suggestions to incorporate spirituality with my clients. It wasn't really that kind of book, although it did not claim to be. It was filled with things I've heard before, in school and in church. Might be a good read for someone not in the field.

This review is from: When Therapy Isn't Enough:The Healing Power Of Prayer And Psychotherapy (Paperback)
Everyone who has experienced a significant personal loss in their lives, or who feels the need for greater emotional well-being for any reason should read this book. Buy it for your counselor, therapist, or physician. We can all benefit from Dr. Menahem's insights into the nature of psychological trauma and sin, or separation from spirit in our lives. He suggests how bringing prayer and other spiritual practice into psychotherapy can deepen and strengthen healing. One of the many advantages which he notes is the ability of the spiritual psychotherapist to discern psychosis from spiritual emergence and to treat the patient accordingly. In our time of confused and blurred values this book gives direction to both client and therapist while honoring each person's unique spiritual path.

5.0 out of 5 stars nothing quite like it, February 12, 1999

This review is from: When Therapy Isn't Enough:The Healing Power Of Prayer And Psychotherapy (Paperback)
When therapy Isn't enough is a magnificent conmtribution to the evolving use of prayer in medicine. I know of nothing else quite like it. Dr. Larry Dossey,, author of Healing Words Inviting us to take a journey into ourselves and beyond, psychologist Sam Menahem explores how prayer and spirituality in all their diverse forms, can complement traditional psychotherapy. Menahem draws on psychodynamic therory, Judeo christian teachings and case studies to explore the realms of spirit and psyche-creating a compelling argument for their therapeutic synthesis. Noetic Science Review ,Fall 1998
