5.0 out of 5 stars Sitchin 1, famous archaeologists 0!
Once again Zecharia Sitchin uses his broad-based knowledge of history, science and religion to advance our understanding of fundamental concepts. This book is not an "easy read". Sitchin is not afraid to use mathematics to make his point at times, and make it he does. If you crave a deeper understanding of calendrical and astrological principles and their...

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting speculation but never offers proof.
Sitchin's expertise is in the linguistics of Sumer and the Middle East. In WHEN TIME BEGAN he focuses on Stonehenge offering interesting speculation on ancient astronomy. However, he fails to prove his case for extraterrestrial intervention. For a more enlightened examination of Stonehenge read John Michell's SECRETS OF THE STONES. For a more viable theory on the...

Once again Zecharia Sitchin uses his broad-based knowledge of history, science and religion to advance our understanding of fundamental concepts. This book is not an "easy read". Sitchin is not afraid to use mathematics to make his point at times, and make it he does. If you crave a deeper understanding of calendrical and astrological principles and their origin, you need to read this book. But, be ready to spend some time getting a grasp of the fundamentals! It is helpful to be thoroughly familiar with the rest of the "Earth Chronicles", there are many subjects that overlap. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely interesting..., March 29, 2003

Honestly speaking everything about life and it's origin is a theory. Sitchin has written a great book (I have read most of his) and the theory of time and origin of life on earth explained in this book is quiet remarkable and astonishing. If you are one of those who think 'where did we come from', 'was there a begining' or 'is there an end' then I'd recommened this book. However, a lot of maths has been used in this book which requires reading it over again at times. But in short, I love the book, it has made my understanding of origin more broader and I can think in multiple lines!

5.0 out of 5 stars A NOTHER "MUST READ" FROM ZECHARIA SITCHIN, February 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: When Time Began (The Earth Chronicles, Book 5) (Hardcover)
Like ALL of his books, this one too is amazing, compelling, persuasive, enlightening, builds rationally and logically to each of its points BUT (there's alway a "but")is a bit difficult to read. Also, as with ALL his books, Zecharia draws his concise conclusions by bringing the knowledge of many sciences together. It is a must read for anyone with an open mind and thirst for knowledge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Make Time for This!, February 9, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
There are three kinds of time: Divine, Celestial and Earth. Most of the megaliths around the globe were astronomical computers to determine months, days, or even periods of time thousands of years into the future. These ancient civilizations knew how to determine solar dates like the equinox or solstice, and even more complex time periods based on lunar calculations. Some computed all of these.

The age of these megaliths can be determined by our knowledge of changes in the tilt of the earth, and it shows their construction dated back thousands of years B.C. These civilizations had unheard of knowledge of astronomy and mathematics - not to mention the actual construction of these megaliths out of rocks weighing in the tons, and with precision we cannot even match today.

Similarities between these structures, including Stonehenge, and others built in the far reaches of the Earth in places like the mountains in Peru, indicate the same architect! How could that be possible unless we accept Sitchin's theories on how this advanced civilization of "gods" came here from Nibiru and gave us the information? If he's wrong, how could these different races on opposite ends of the Earth each have the skies divided into 12 arbitrary units, the Zodiac, and have practically the same symbols representing each?

The coincidences seem to keep mounting. When Divine time is reconciled to Earth time using Nibiru's orbit around earth of 3,600 years to the number of Earth years in each house of the Zodiac of 2,160 years, you get 1.6666, the golden ratio - Fibonacci numbers. And there's more. Every chapter has something new.

I know, don't tell me... Stonehenge was a burial ground. Yeah right. Just shut up and buy the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The truth is painful., December 25, 1997

Of course no other scholars are going to bring in the possibility of life elsewhere. To do so, would be to lose grant money. But there is a 12th planet and everything else matches. So just because one cannot take the truth, don't name call the truth bringer. And..who doesn't write for money?

5.0 out of 5 stars A series to make you think., October 12, 2008
When Time Began: Book V of the Earth Chronicles ((The Earth Chronicles)]] Every book in the series makes you think. You may not agree with everything that Sitchin writes, but his theories are interesting and he is an acknowledged expert in interpreting ancient
Sumerian documents.

I am pleased with the condition of this book and am enjoying the subject matter. It is all about the count of timescales from the beginning of our sense of time as something measurable.
