PreSchool-- A 3-year-old and her mother share a day's activities while they reminisce about the little girl's infancy. Their dialogue paints a picture of growing up--"Didn't I even eat cookies?" "You couldn't--you didn't have any teeth!" Each two-page spread is a tiny story in itself. Left-hand pages show mother and daughter engaged in daily routine, from breakfast to bedtime; their conversation appears below. Related scenes from the preschooler's baby days fill the facing pages; thin borders around the illustrations give a photo-album appearance. The bright watercolors are peopled with moon-faced, pleasant-looking folks and filled with homey details. Parents will enjoy sharing this book, which appeals to the fascination small children have with the part of their lives that they can't remember. Lyn Littlefield Hoopes' When I Was Little (Dutton, 1983; o.p.) is a more poetic look at birth and infancy, again with a dialogue between mother and daughter.
