From the Back Cover

You've lost someone you loved, and now the pain seems unendurable. June Cerza Kolf understands. She, too, has suffered the wound of grief, and as a veteran of hospice work, has counseled many mourning people. In this gentle, empathic book, Kolf leads you through the stages of grief, helping you understand what to expect as time goes on and making you mindful of potential pitfalls such as feeling anger or guilt, dealing with holidays, and experiencing physical distress.

No matter what the loss has been, it takes time and heart-wrenching work for the wound to heal. Kolf takes you by the hand and helps you do this painful--yet vital--work. She offers practical and therapeutic ways of dealing with depression and easing pain and gives creative ideas for expressing your love and remembrance. The grief exercises provided in this book are an outlet for working through your pain on your own or in a small-group setting. Most of all, as When Will I Stop Hurting? guides you through the rough terrain of grieving, it will also point you to God, the one true source of healing.

About the Author

June Cerza Kolf has worked in hospice care for years, teaches grief seminars, and conducts grief recovery sessions. She is the author of several books and lives in Quartz Hill, California.

When my Mother passed away, a friend gave me this book to read. It was such a help to me, I gave it to my brother to read also. Since then, whenever we know someone who losses a loved one, we send them this book. Everyone has always come back and said what a help it was to them. If someone you know needs comfort, send them this book!

We lost our beloved 24 year-old son recently. Ms. Kolf's words have provided comfort and understanding where none seems possible. I would highly recommend this book to anyone grieving the loss of a loved one.

I've never written a review on a book before, but feel so strongly about this book that I'm taking the time to do so. My father died suddenly last fall and I purchased this book for myself, my mother, sisters and other family members. We all found great comfort in Ms. Kolf's words. It is a book you can pick up and read any chapter at any time. It is an easy read. I found myself reading and re-reading it night after night to get through those most difficult moments. Now, I give this book to others when they suffer a loss, and everyone I've given this to tells me how helpful this book is to them, too, in dealing with their heartache.

After the lost of my husband, I received books on grief. I purchased this book a a book store. After reading this and book I order 3 more from amazon to give to my mother-in-law and my church. I have an extra one for anyone who might need one in the future. This book hits things right on the head. I thought I was losing my mind. After reading this book I found the things I was feeling was o.k. I have read several books on this subject, but "When will I stop hurting" is the best book I have found.

When Will I Stop Hurting?: Dealing with a Recent Death

This is an excellent book, very informative and insightful. I actually read it 3 times in a row. As a man who is still dealing with the death of his son - I found myself understanding my own grief better. I realized that I am not done with many aspects of the grief process.

As a Health Care worker, working at a mental hospital for Dual Diagnosis patients (those suffering from both a mental or emotional illness as well as chemical dependency) -I will be able to help my patients better after reading this book.

I highly recommend "When Will I Stop Hurting?: Dealing with a Recent Death" to people whether or not they have personally experienced a loss. It will help them to better understand others who are currently dealing with grief.

Thanks to Mrs. Kolf for her work!

This book was an easy read, especially for someone in the process of grieving & mourning (when doing anything sometimes feels difficult). It made me feel as though I wasn't going crazy and that the feelings I was having were normal. It made me realize that that the process of grief is never the same for everyone and it's ok to slide in and out of the stages-it isn't as easy as "you go through the stages, you get over it, etc." I definitely recommend it for anyone who has lost someone they loved (which is all of us on some level).

Although a short read,I was amazed how this book helps one understand the stages of grief. Being a skeptical person I was surprised how the book put deep thoughts into words. I even felt better after reading the first 10 pages! Nothing can ever replace a loved one. But, it is better to understand one's own feelings to be able to enjoy life more.

Cheapest and best advice I have ever received.

The author used to be my next door neighbor, and I have read this book many times before. I always give the book to those who have suffered the loss of a loved one. The people I give the book to always say the book helped them cope.
