This sweet picture book is all about a rabbit family as they wind down and get ready for bed. The rabbits have bedtime routines just like human children do. They pick up toys, read stories, say bedtime prayers and brush their teeth. The beautiful watercolor photos add so much life to the story. I was glad to see that the mom and the dad rabbit had a hand in the bedtime routine. I was also glad to see that prayer was important to the rabbit family! This is a great bedtime story for the whole family to snuggle up with.

Rhyming quatrains describe a rabbit family's sweet bedtime routine with their three little bunnies: helping them clean up their room, visiting with them after dinner, helping them take a bath and brush their teeth, and reading them a story. The opening rhyme says, "When the world /Is ready for bed, The sky grows dark, The sun glows red. A lovely double spread shows the mother rabbit standing outside her home, waving to her bunnies as in the background some cows graze under a setting sun. Each brief rhyme sits in a double spread of its own. Father Rabbit says, "Let's talk about/The things you've done--All the laughter, All the fun" while the lovely watercolor shows him sitting comfortably on a couch between two of his bunnies while the third one tells a story: a bubble appears above the bunny's head that shows her chasing a cow. This is a charming bedtime story with exquisite illustrations that just exude calmness and contentment.

This has to be one of the cutest books I've seen in a long time. The beautiful watercolor pictures along with the rhyming about the Bunnies and their bedtime rituals are sure to touch a small child's heart. The little rabbits have routines just like a small child. There are plenty of details both in the illustrations and rhyming story to discuss with your child. Bunnies brush their teeth and so does a child. Hugs are given to bunnies and you hug your child. Bunnies have a bedtime routine and so does your child. And of course, "tomorrows waiting, just for you."

I've been reading this book to my 2 year old daughter, and she just loves it. It's a picture book that follows a family of rabbits as they get ready for bed. They pick up their toys, and brush their teeth, and read books, and do all the other things most kids do before snuggling into their beds at night. I love the simplicity and the gentle flow of the words. It's an easy and enjoyable book to read. And the illustrations by Anna Currey are warm and comforting, blending well with the calm feeling the words evoke. I highly recommend this as a book to read aloud to preschoolers at bedtime. The first time I read it to my daughter, I ended up reading it three times because she kept wanting me to read it again!

This is a darling goodnight book to read to young children, infants to about three years old (possibly older, depending on the child). Three bunny siblings go through their evening routine of coming in to have supper, telling their father stories about their day, cleaning up toys, taking a bath, reading a bedtime book, saying prayers, and going to bed--all told through a sweet, rhythmic rhyme. The illustrations are dear. This is a nice wind-down book that is not too long, but not too simple. My son liked it as an infant and still likes to have it included in his bedtime stories (he's three).

This is my favorite book to read to my 11 month old. The pictures are cute and somehow comforting. The words are simple, yet they tell a tight and rhythmic story.

Beyond the beautiful words and illustrations, the author chose to teach some simple values through the story. I was going to list examples, but then I realized I want to say something about nearly every page. Suffice to say that the author describes what I view as an ideal example of how a family should interact.

I would recommend this book to anyone with small children.

"When the World is Ready for Bed" is a charming bedtime pasteboard primer for young children ages 2 and up. Filled with delicate water-color tinted detailed sketches and paintings of a young bunny family getting children ready to sleep, "When the World is Ready for Bed" contains a reassuring combination of soft ritual, quiet preparation, and gentle thoughts and blessings to lead the tired toddler to a happy, refreshing slumber. The text and pictures sing a gentle lullaby that charm and enchant as little eyelids droop towards dreamland. Somewhat reminiscent of Beatrix Potter, but with a fresh take, "When the World is Ready for Bed" is a treasure for parents and children today.

This is a beautiful bedtime book that my daughter adores. We first had a copy by accident from the little local library and immediately ordered a few copies for us and friends.

The book follows 3 little rabbits as they prepare for bed, the chat with daddy about their day, brushing teeth, reading a book, kisses hugs and seeing a start to guide them through the night. It ends with a promise of the new day tomorrow.

We have been cycling three bedtime books for the last year. This, Goodnight Moon, and Say Hello to the Snowy Animals. This one seems to be getting more attention than the others for the last few months. I enjoy reading it to her as much as she loves hearing it.
