This is the latest in a string of evangelical Christian books that tells us there is more to life, then reveals how to find it. Like others in the genre, the Ludys (When God Writes Your Love Story), who are full-time speakers, writers and musicians, first describe inauthentic Christianity, typified by those who excuse their sins or seek moral superiority over others. They then urge readers to leave all that behind in favor of extreme faith, the ultimate adventure, which requires losing faith in oneself and trusting God completely. Also true to formula, the book contains many anecdotes; unfortunately, most are too general to shed much light on the point at hand. Parts two and three stray somewhat from the norm, with practical suggestions for God seekers and a study guide for developing one's inner life. The Ludys emphasize confession of sin and offer a helpful list of questions for self-evaluation, but they fail to make explicit what constitutes sin. Nevertheless, seekers may benefit from the study guide, which recommends reading Christian biographies, setting goals in every area of life and developing good habits. In explaining its premise, this volume has little to offer; those looking for deeper faith would do well to skip to the practical sections.

More About the Author

Yes, I realize I look more like a nineteen year old golf caddy than I do a credible literary voice. I'm thirty seven and I still struggle with growing facial hair (I'm just glad I wasn't born Amish). I'm one of those guys that always wanted to be a football player, not a writer. However, I had a mom who was willing to give it to me straight - she told me, "Eric dear, you just aren't built for that sort of thing!" When I asked what sort of thing I was built for, she paused, considered it, and then said, "Well honey, you are built more like a golfer!"

That sort of says it right there. I'm not a fireman, a mighty business mogul, a black ops special forces warrior - I'm a writer (the golfer of the job world). Though it might not sound very epic, I absolutely love my life and I love what I do.

I think if you were to amass the total of my published work in book form thus far it would be approximately 3,300 pages. Now that number is a bit inflated due to the fact that a good chunk of those pages were penned in collaboration with my wife, Leslie. However, since Scripture says that we are "one", I figure its perfectly ethical to claim those 3,300 pages as my own.

I (along with Leslie) currently have 13 books published. We have another three waiting in the interminable publisher birth canal. I have authored five books for Multnomah/Random House publishers. "When God Writes Your Love Story: the ultimate approach to guy/girl relationships" is the book I'm probably most known for. It spent 18 months on the Christian best-seller list and ranks as one of the top three Christian relationship books of all time.

I have three books with Thomas Nelson publishers. My favorite of that collection is one entitled "Meet Mr. Smith". It's a hilarious book about "How to find Great S-x." The book hasn't done particularly well, but I think its a winner (Spoken like a true author).

We have another four books with Harvest House Publishers. And out of this collection is my newest work being released September 2008. It's entitled "The Bravehearted Gospel" and it packs quite a punch. I'm sure I'll find out who my friends really are when that book hits the shelves.

I live in the charming little town of Windsor, Colorado. I have the world's greatest wife and I have three precious little kiddos (Hudson, Harper, and Kipling) that bring a great deal of happiness to my life.

As a young adult, trying to make some decision's about my future and the direction i should take, this book definately came in due season. Eric and Leslie Ludy are great author's. They know how to relate the message God has layed on their heart's to all age group's. I bought this book a few day's ago, and already it has opened my eye's to many thing's in my life. It's not a "how to" guide to christianity, but rather, a message from the heart's of two people who have been down the same road, have had the same concern's and worry's, and confronted with the same type of issues as many of us are plagued with every day. Though, they have found the secret that many of our heart's search for.... the secret to how to live a victorious christian life.

Eric and Leslie have done it again! While all of their books convey a message of building one's life around Christ and pursuing Him in everything, this book really hits the message home. Not only is the book packed with their candid stories and cunning tales, but it also offers a life application section which can be used as a study guide individually or as a group. The entire book is very practical with the same great message drilled home- our lives need to be totally devoted to the Lord.
