"When Y2K Dies" is by far one of the better books on the Millennial Bug. It is basic and understandable for the average person. There are so many people who are fearful of Y2K because of all the hype and scare tactics of many authors, some of whom do not have any clue about the effects of Y2K. This book does indeed separate fact from fiction. Before you sell your house and move out to the country, or before you stockpile food,etc., you must read "When Y2K Dies." It's a "common sense" book for young and old alike. I recommend it highly!

This has to be, by far, the most poorly researched book I've ever read on Y2K. When I read the first chapter I seriously thought they were trying to inject a little levity into the issue. I was wrong. The chapter, entitled "Ten Most Frequently Asked Questions" includes this typical entry: "4. Will the Y2K problem shut down our power supply? Answer: First of all, power production doesn't exclusively rely on computers. Every power plant is operated from a control center and in that control room, there are wires, switches and innumerable other gadgets that are designed to be operated by hand." That was the extent of their answer to this very complex question. Rick Cowles, who testified before congress on this issue, is a much more reliable source of information on the effect of Y2K on our power supply. Unfortunately, the rest of Mrs. Froese's book is very similar. They seem to be trying to take a very complex subject and simplify it, yet in so doing they have oversimplified it and under-researched it. Much of the book quotes 3rd party sources, and even those are often of questionable reliability.
