In When You Were Mine, we meet Screenwriter, Joey Adams. She is the sister of Peyton and Flex from Measure of a Man. Joey, who is expecting an engagement ring from boyfriend Laurence is devastated after being dumped instead on Valentine's Day.

A woman on a mission, Joey goes to a private club to try and win Laurence back. When she is denied entrance, she attempts to "crash" the party and literally crashes into the arms of Movie Director, Ryan Donovan who is instantly taken with Joey.

Later, Ryan pretends to help Joey make Laurence jealous, while trying to win her for himself.

Through a series of mishaps and some very funny situations, this awesome couple find true love.

This is definitely one of the Best Romantic, funny and sensuous reads this year. This awesome couple will make you believe that love comes when you least expect it.

5.0 out of 5 stars FUNNY AND SMART 5+STARS., August 9, 2006

This review is from: When You Were Mine (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
In book two of the "Adam sisters" We have screenwriter Joey Adams who ASSUMES that her boyfriend is going to pop the question. Why you ask? Because she has been snooping and found a receipt for jewelry and besides it's Valentine day. Well everyone know what happens when you assume. Joey has been dumped, the ex "Larry" has a new women, and has moved on. Joey is not going to give up on her good man. So Joey has a chance meeting with Hollywood Director Ryan Donovan. Please try if you can to read this scene when they first meet without laughing. Ryan figures Joey is just prone to mishaps, but that is what makes her so likeable. So Ryan figures out a way to help her and get a little help with his "problem" Ryan tells Joey he will help her "PRETEND" like they are engaged to make Larry Jealous. Keep in mind Joey is not sure if Ryan is a friend or Foe, but because of certain circumstance Joey has agreed to his offer. Besides Joey is GOING to get her man back? The cat and mouse of the book made it such a fun read. The plan works a little too well. Larry wants Joey, Catalia wants Ryan, Ryan wants Joey, and poor Joey is just confused. Adrianne does a good job and making the whole book funny and smart. Plus you get to catch up with the rest of the Adams Family. I read it and thought this would be a good movie that I wouldn't mind spending 9 dollars for. There are so many touching moment's as well as some truths for everyone besides Joey and Ryan. Joey grew up and found the real love happens right before your eyes or in a bathroom.

My only complaint. Hurry with the rest of the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Too funny!, August 4, 2006
This review is from: When You Were Mine (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was hilarious! This book played out like a movie to me. The Adams' sisters are a trip and a half. You have Joey who goes through all of these funny and outlandish things to try and win her "ex alomst fiance" back. While she is up to her antics she meets Ryan and he decides to help her win him back. Both Joey and Ryan get caught up and try to decide on their feelings for each other. They are H-O-T together and also they make a fun pair. Their bantering is priceless! And Ryan wasn't half bad either. Also you get the check in with the rest of the Adams clan and the book rasises some questions so you know another book is in the works. Definite recommendation.

2.0 out of 5 stars Joey was truly annoying and should always have a babysitter, July 24, 2011
This review is from: When You Were Mine (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Spoiler Alert!!! Joey Got on my nerves nobody can be as dumb as she was.

1st she runs after a man who calls her on the phone to tell he he still loves her and the other woman is in the background.

Then she runs all the way to Italy to get this jerk back like some desperate idiot. She uses her sisters credit card without asking which puts it on fraud watch. Then she gets her purse stolen, then she gets her last remaining suitcase stolen.

Then instead of calling for help from her family, so that she wont starve to death she decides that she doesn't want her family in her business. Excuse me but if I was starving and homeless I would call someone for help in an instant. Her family is right, she is too flighty. She should not be let out on her own; she needs supervision at all times.

The only good parts of this book is when she came into the restaurant with Ryan and had Laurence AKA Larry's tongue hanging out of his mouth. And when Ryan and Joey got together in their room instead of going out to meet Larry and Carlini. I liked that they both got stood up. LOL! Both those idiots are lefted with nothing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It!!!, January 28, 2009

This was such a good story. Joey gets dumped by her longtime doctor boyfriend, Laurence, who in my a opinion was a real jerk. Crushed by the break-up Joey sets off to Italy to win him back. Along the way she meets successful director, Ryan Donovan. Ryan agrees to help her win Laurence back. The sparks fly between Ryan and Joey and soon she forgets about her plan to win her ex-almost fiance back. This is a funny and heartwarming story. Needless to say, neither is aware of the feelings they have developed for each other. Subsequently they hit a bump in the road to forever, but eventually work it out. Great sequel to A Measure of A Man

5.0 out of 5 stars THESE GIRLS ARE CRAZY!, June 10, 2008
This review is from: When You Were Mine (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
I thought this one about Joey was just as great as Peytons story. Where does Adrianne come up with these characters? LOL! I loved how Joey was hilarious without trying to be. I thought her dude was cute and sweet even though she felt differently sometimes. I just loved it and will probably read it again sometime in the near future.

5.0 out of 5 stars A quest for love., August 31, 2006
This review is from: When You Were Mine (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Valentine's day has never been kind to Joey Adams but after finding a credit card receipt from a jewlery store purchase belonging to her boyfriend Laurence she just knows this year will be different. In fact she was expecting him to 'pop' the big question...but what she gets is being dumped for another woman.

But Joey refuses to give up and it's while she's in the midst of one of her schemes to get 'Larry' back that she meets hollywood director Ryan Donovan. Now Ryan has been experiencing his own 'little' problem which seems to reverse itself whenever Joey is near. Being quite amused and attracted to Joey, Ryan decides to 'help' her get her man back.
Join them as they travel from the west coast to Milan, Italy on their quest for love.

When You Were Mine is the second book in the Adams Sisters series and you will not be able to put this book down until the last page is turned and the last word is read. Whether you're an Adrianne Byrd fan or new to her books you are in for a treat.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved it but..., January 14, 2012

I really liked this book.
SPOILER ALERT..!!!
Joey was a little annoying... why would you want a man that has left you for another woman...?
Why would you leave the country with NO MONEY and no back up plan after your ex (who left you for another woman) called you with another woman in the background?
Why would you allow yourself to be homeless because of nosy family?
Who in their right mind would jeopardize their safety for a man..?!
Ryan was a cool guy... I wish we could have know more about his childhood.
I wish the story could have taken place over more time than a week.
Since everything happened in a week, the characters didn't really get to know each other on a more personal level.
Sure they connected and sure that loved each other, but Ryan never talked to his about his childhood or his life growing up with an abusive father and an emotionally absent mother.
Ryan and Joey never even had a conversation about family, friends, work...
They didn't even have a conversation about what Joey or Jo-Jo stood for!
The didn't talk about the basics!!!
I thought it was a little weird that none of that stuff was really covered in their conversations.
I still enjoyed the story and would read it again.
