Oh so good...,

This review is from: When You Wish (Paperback)
I agree that Feather's story was one of the weakest. However, Sharon and Tom Curtis' THe Natural Child more than makes up for it. It's funny, chronologically accurate in ambience and setting, but so sweet and romantic! The other stories are solid as well. Good reading.

Skip the first story by Jane Feather which is awful. If you don't you may never read the rest of the wonderful stories.

All the stories in this book will capture your heart and make you start the book again when you reach the last page. My favorite is the story of Lucy and the man of her dreams. It will truly cause you to smile.

I bought this book for the novella, The Natural Child by Sharon and Tom Curtis. I came across it in a library maybe 10 years ago and HAD to track down an used copy to own. Unfortunately, these authors (who also write under names Laura London and Robin James) are almost unknown in the digital era. This is one of the best romances I've ever read. The language is lyrical, there is a great deal of humor, all of the characters are engaging, and the hero and heroine especially so. Absolutely beautiful. Don't miss this one. And be sure to check out their only other book in Kindle format, Lightning That Lingers. Also included in this anthology and NOT reviewed here: Jane Feather's Wishful Thinking Patricia Coughlin's The Blackmoor Devil Elizabeth Elliott's Bewitched Patricia Potter's Forever Suzanne Robinson's The Unwanted Bride

I really enjoy Jane Feather's books, and this one didn't dissapoint. I liked that all the other author's used the main theme of the book really well. I even found a few new author's I want to check out. This was a quick fun read that I have lent out to several people who all enjoyed it like me.

I don't usually like romance fiction as many of them tend to have similar plots. However, this collection of stories edited by Jane Feather is innovative. However, there is one mistake I must mention. It's on page 34. One of the characters' name is Lady Emily Fairfax, but she was mentioned as Elinor once on the fifth line in the same page. Anyway, it's just a small mistake. Ms.Feather's story is the one I like best among the six stories as her little Rosie is very lovely. Reading about her made me smile a lot. Try "When you wish" and you will cherish this book like I do.

I mainly bought this anthology for Sharon and Tom Curtis' story but I was really disappointed. The characters were fine and the story was interesting but I just couldn't for the life of me figure out why Henry Lamb would fall head over heels for this girl. One minute they meet, the next he's enchanted. What? Why? She's full of joy? When? I tried to read the other stories but none of them caught my attention --- couldn't get all the way through a single one. Sorry to be so harsh --- starting to feel like the guy in green. Guess when it comes to this book, my heart was just two sizes too small. |
