This review is from: When Your Baby Won't Stop Crying: A Parent's Guide to Colic (Paperback)
Recently, I have been reading about colic, likely because my little one has GERD and we have had to deal with such bouts. I think I am interested in seeing what our life would be like if the medication did not work.
The book incorporates her story which is nothing short of jaw-dropping. Dr. Krautter starts by discussing theories of colic, diagnosing the problem, and offering possible treatment approaches. I really like how she also talks about "Living with a Nightmare" (title of chapter 6) as well as a chapter that deals with feelings of loss associated with having a colicky infant. The book is well written and easy to read (which is important since I imagine it would be VERY difficult to read anything with a colicky infant). I think it is an excellent resource for parents who are struggle with this. Good luck.

The author suggests many of the same tricks to help stop colic babies from crying as does the book the Happiest baby on the block, but she goes one step furthur. She writes this book with the compassion of a best friend who's been through the same problem you're experiencing, and is trying to help you figure out what's wrong by sharing her story and what she found has been helpful.
This book is an in depth view of the problem of colic babies. It covers just about everything you can think of: from working to find a diagnosis to coping with the feeling of loss of having a difficult baby. Its hard getting support from doctors and friends who don't quite understand what your going through. This book helped me to feel like I wasn't going crazy, that it is a tramatic experience to have to deal with when your in the midst of it. Its easy to read, so I don't feel overwhelmed trying to find answers when the baby is calm enough to get a break.

This book covers the basic methods of The Happiest Baby on the Block. It is good stuff, but not a cure for colic.
There is a real, research proven cure for colic. It is explained by Taubman in Why is My Baby Crying? There have been 3 research studies on this method. 2 were by Taubman, and one was by a masters nursing student in Texas. All 3 studies shows that there is a cure for colic.

When my baby was in the throes of full-blown colic and nothing seemed to help him, this book helped my own emotional state. It was such a relief to read the experiences of someone who had been there, done that, and could understand how horrible it was. When my husband couldn't sympathize, (he was at work, not stuck at home with a screaming baby all day!) Tonja Krautter could. It helped to validate my feelings.
The book offers solutions first, for those easier-to-fix versions of colic. Then, if you are so unfortunate to have a baby that doesn't respond to treatment, it offers empathy. It is a must-have book for those sleepless nights when the baby will only doze off on your chest and nowhere else.
