Finally a book that gets to the point and says it like it is. Bullying is a problem in every school and at every level of our society and these moms discussed it openly from the heart. Yes, kids will be kids but bullies will be bullies!! There is a difference. My daughter has been being bullied all through her grade school years. I gave a copy to her teacher and I am tempted to leave one on the doorstep of the kid who has been bullying her. Parents need to face the facts on both ends. Even the parents of the kids who are doing the bullying. There is a solution! Hats off to these moms for having the courage to write this book!

This book was so helpful to me as I have a son who was bullied when he was in middle school....every teacher and principal should be required to read this book as I feel that alot of the bullying could be diminished if school's would adopt a no tolerance policy. The authors did a superb job guiding the reader through the many aspects of this frightening experience. Thank You! Easy read and worth sharing with your children.

Bullying is an unfortunate fact of life but it is particularly troubling if your own child is on the receiving end. This book helps to guide you through a very emotionally difficult time with constructive ways in which to effectively help your child and bring the bullying to an end.

This is a very practical manual that provides step-by-step approach to a difficult and sensitive problem for modern families. The section / action steps for parents regarding cell phones and social media is most timely.

When Your Child Is Being Bullied, by J. E. DiMarco and M. K. Newman, both mothers of bullied children, is aimed primarily at parents and rightly so. If the problem is to be solved, it will have to start in the home with informed parents assuming the major responsibility for their children's behavior. The problem is too massive and complex to be left to schools alone.

Readers will identify with Ms. DiMarco and Ms. Newman's personal stories and their frustrating search for solutions. . . . The inability of the administrators at her son's school to solve the problem is a common experience. There is good advice about legal remedies . . . templates which can be downloaded from their website . . . [and] a contract agreement form that can be used as a basis for negotiations between the bully's parents and the bullied child's parents.

Overall, this is an excellent book . . . the book does contain sound, practical advice about becoming an advocate in the school system. The authors stress that the real responsibility for eliminating the bullying pestilence rests with parents. Respectful, compassionate children have learned empathy by witnessing it at home and if raised correctly have the self-esteem and confidence to eliminate bullying in their schools by refusing to remain silent bystanders.

This book can help conscientious parents empower themselves and their children so that together they can help safeguard the emotional health of all children.

As a former school member this is a recommended read for anyone interested in solutions rather than just talking about the problem. Bullying does not discriminate - it is a problem at schools whether they are rural or urban, large or small, wealthy or not. All schools have identified the problem but are at a loss as how to solve the problem. This book provides the roadmap that educators and parents need to get to real solutions not just talk or hype. What a great resource for parent networks within the school to begin to put an end and help all kids become successful. Let's really talk about "no child left behind" - this is the way to start.
