Review
This is indeed a splendid book for parents -- readable, sensible, practical, and workable. Perhaps even more to the point, it is a short book, written explicitly for busy tried, and confidence-shaken parents who seek upbeat but realisitc advice. As such, it offers parents a simple four-step plan that is easy to learn and apply. --Cyril M. Franks, Child & Family Behavior Therapy
I was impressed with the book's common sense ideas and realistic approach to raising children. I liked the author's philosophy that confident, responsible parents can nurture and encourage their children while still having expectations and consequences for behavior. --Beth Berghoff, Communique, National Association of School Psychologists
This book will appeal to every parent (yes, that is a very broad statement) and will be a wonderful tool to anyone managing children, whether a parent, child-care worker, or a professional therapist. Silberman has given the reader beneficial parenting tools that are universal, in that they can be used regardless of age, socioeconomic class, or the severity of the problematic behavior. --J. Ryan Fuller and Howard Kassinove, Journal of Cognitive Psychotherapy
