Book Description

September 16, 2010
These Little Patriot Books(tm) provide a hopeful message with creative tools for deployed military members & their families. Children may not label their thoughts and feelings the same way adults do, but their whimsical attitude can be a source of inspiration in such difficult times. Military children whose parents go to war zones now have a new resource in which they become an integral part of the story and active participants in their parent's deployment.

Editorial Reviews

About the Author

Maryann Makekau is a veteran, retired-military spouse, and mother of two grown military brats. She earned her degree at Syracuse University and has since contributed research, testing, and writing for studies involving memory research, military stress factors and psychometrics. Her Little Pink Book(tm) series for families coping with cancer motivated her to bring that kind of hope to other tough subjects, such as war and deployment.

More About the Author

Maryann Makekau is an author, inspirational speaker, and spirited entrepreneur. She is also a veteran, spouse of a military member (retired), and mother of two military "brats." Her experience in the mental health field spans over 20 years, with the evaluation of learning, memory and executive brain function disorders, and research contributions in geriatric memory recognition and military training stress factors.

Maryann's writing and presentations combine her experience and compassion to provide practical tools for families coping with cancer, deployments to war, Alzheimer's disease and other difficult journeys. Her speaking engagements include visits to schools, libraries, and camps, military programs, awareness events, conferences, senior living communities, chapel and game half-time addresses, and more. Her nationwide book tours offer interactive workshops, creative exhibitions, hope-filled speeches, radio and television interviews, and dedicated signings. Some whimsical facts about Maryann: she loves to cook, clocks a daily mile in the pool, and she packs a powerful hug.
