Matthew Morrison Behind The Scenes

“At the end of the day, I’m a song and dance man,” says Matthew Morrison. Not that there was ever any doubt.

The Emmy, Tony, and Golden Globe-nominated star may have come to national prominence through his role as the perpetually optimistic high school teacher Will Schuester on Fox TV’s “Glee,” but the Southern California native was turning heads years ... Read more in Amazon's Matthew Morrison Store

Editorial Reviews

EMMY, TONY, and Golden Globe-nominated star Matthew Morrison is to release a new studio album, Where It All Began, on June 4, 2013. Featuring a collection of classic standards, many of which were first made famous in Broadway musicals. Morrison turned to legendary producer Phil Ramone (Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett), along with GRAMMY Award-winning producer Gregg Field, to create the 12 songs featured on the album. The collection marks the first release from 222 Records, the newly formed label from Adam Levine.
Morrison's new album of standards is a salute to the music that means the most to him and follows on the release of his 2011 self-titled solo pop album. On Where It All Began, it was paramount for Morrison that he put his own stamp on the songs, either by coming up with new tempos and arrangements or by recreating the song in a way it had never been imagined before. Together, with Phil Ramone, the pair re-envisioned the tracks featured, while still embracing what made these standards classics in the first place.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Matthew! June 9, 2013
Format:Audio CD
As a fan of Glee, I bought Matthew's first cd. I like it, but I was disappointed he didn't keep with his Broadway roots and go with Broadway classics. THEN I saw the set list for this album! YAY Matthew! I love it! Great for unwinding, cooking (that way you can get away with having some dancing feet), or just listening to for the heck of it. I love his version of "Singing in the Rain", "Easing Down the Road", "On the Street Where you Live", etc. I think my new favorite thing to do is tuck my kids in bed, pour some wine, and listen to this cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fun and Charming take on the classics June 8, 2013
By Darien
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This album puts the extremely talented Mr. Morrison's smooth vocals front and center, backed up by musicians that definitely put pep in the step of anyone walking with this plugged into their ears - certainly me. I love every song in this album, and I cant emphasize enough how impressed I am with the way this guy sings. A sleek and brilliant take on classic songs, definitely bringing back the fun of Gene Kelly's "Singing in the Rain" - it almost DEMANDS that you break out into some kind of bouncing dance or finger snap at the very least when "On the Street Where You Live" comes on ;) I think if you listen hard enough, you can hear the dancing and swinging' everyone's doing in the background! And don't forget the softer melodic songs that offer up a pure and sweet complement to the jazz/swing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Matt Morrison is a 'triple threat' performer! July 1, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I love the fact that he can dance, sing, act and is such a nice guy. I love the way his hair curls unlike 'Sue' on Glee. And it doesn't hurt that I am one of the very mature audience that loves 'Glee' and still remembers my four high school years with fondness and we also had a class that did great drama, comedy and singing every year for all of us and this was back in the late 50's and early 60's before all the cuts in the arts area.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Album Is Awesome! June 17, 2013
By Kim
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Love it. Matthew Morrison is not only an awesome actor, but a singer as well and he done a really good job with this album. I listened to the whole thing twice it's just awesome. As a broadway music fan myself as well as Glee and a fan of Matt's, this album is a must have for all Matthew Morrison/Glee fans as well as anyone who is into broadway classics. Love all the songs, but my favorites are West Side Story Melody and Ease On Down The Road, but the whole album just blew me away as Matt has a great voice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Flawless performance July 17, 2013
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
The album is flawless, he can sing show tunes like a dream. My only issue is the selection of over recorded standard songs. I wished he had included some newer or not too popular material. Otherwise, it is a great album and the renditions of the old tunes are great.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too jazzy for me.
I really like Matthews voice and I'm a big fan of Glee; however I did not like the arrangements of these songs. Far too jazzy for my tastes.
