5.0 out of 5 stars Easy reading. Profound content., February 6, 2003

This review is from: Where Angels Tread (Paperback)
WHERE ANGELS TREAD by Anthony Ducklow is a wonderfully creative and imaginative work. The book contains two basic story lines. Part one begins with a young minister taking the reigns of his new church and follows along as he deals with personal and organizational challenges that are probably quite typical for someone in that profession, not the least of which is a new and dynamic assistant pastor who has visions of splendor not quite in alignment with his own.

Part two is Nathaniel's story. Nathaniel is a member of the church who has become disillusioned with the mutinous assistant pastor, the infighting congregation and Christianity itself. He soon finds himself in the middle of a spritual struggle that includes demons, exorcisms, good and evil angels, spritual warfare, time travel, and personal encounters with Jesus Christ and the Devil.

It is a compelling story. And it is well-told. The author's style is refreshing in its simplicity and directness. Yet this simplicity in no way compromises the intense and profound quality of the story. To the contrary, the characters and their thoughts, as well as the action, of which there is plenty,
are enhanced by this style. The reader is right there meeting the characters, hearing their voices, observing their actions and seeing what they see. We are always looking forward to the next page, to the next moment, the next emotion.

Anthony Ducklow has written a book which will communicate to anyone. Atheists, agnostics, and believers alike will find a lot to like in WHERE ANGELS TREAD. The story is honestly told, with demons and doubts and blasphemy lurking between the lines. "Everyman" can relate to this tale because of its integrity. That's what makes this story work.

If you want to be entertained, if you want to be challenged, if you want to become immersed in a retelling of "The Greatest Story Ever Told", read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Angelic Read, December 10, 2002
By
This review is from: Where Angels Tread (Paperback)
After reading Where Angels Tread, I was very impressed with how engaging the story was. Right from the beginning I was hooked and wanted to know what was going to happen to the small church community and all of its struggles, political and personal. There were several unexpected twists and turns that left me full of emotion and I found myself unable to put the book down! The depictions of the characters and story line were very easy to visualize; I almost felt like I knew the characters. Anthony Ducklow's story really made me believe that miracles can happen, even when we are full of despair. He did a great job of depicting the Angels in the story as well. The book was such a fast, enjoyable read that I almost felt sad when I had finished it. I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Where Angels Tread, August 8, 2011
This review is from: Where Angels Tread (Paperback)
Tony Ducklow crafted this story of the infiltration of the enemy into the church, the havoc it caused and how it nearly destroyed the budding faith of the main character, Nathaniel. But then Ducklow, takes his reader on a obstacle-strewn journey to the cross through the eyes of Nathaniel.

The imagery is excellent and I especially liked the scene at the cross. His writing is very realistic. Nathaniel is not a super hero, but rather an average young man; one who has fears and is searching for a relationship with Jesus. It is a story of perseverence, trial, and victory, though none of these come easily. I would recommend this book to those who are either walking by faith or those who are about to.

Tony Ducklow has a natural way of writing and I felt like I was right there with Nathaniel every step of the way.

Rita Kroon, author of "Letters from the Past," "You Have Cancer - a Journey Through the Valley of the Shadow of Death," and "Praying the Scriptures."
