5.0 out of 5 stars Easy reading. Profound content., February 6, 2003

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Where Angels Tread (Paperback)
WHERE ANGELS TREAD by Anthony Ducklow is a wonderfully creative and imaginative work. The book contains two basic story lines. Part one begins with a young minister taking the reigns of his new church and follows along as he deals with personal and organizational challenges that are probably quite typical for someone in that profession, not the least of which is a new and dynamic assistant pastor who has visions of splendor not quite in alignment with his own.

Part two is Nathaniel's story. Nathaniel is a member of the church who has become disillusioned with the mutinous assistant pastor, the infighting congregation and Christianity itself. He soon finds himself in the middle of a spritual struggle that includes demons, exorcisms, good and evil angels, spritual warfare, time travel, and personal encounters with Jesus Christ and the Devil.

It is a compelling story. And it is well-told. The author's style is refreshing in its simplicity and directness. Yet this simplicity in no way compromises the intense and profound quality of the story. To the contrary, the characters and their thoughts, as well as the action, of which there is plenty,
are enhanced by this style. The reader is right there meeting the characters, hearing their voices, observing their actions and seeing what they see. We are always looking forward to the next page, to the next moment, the next emotion.

Anthony Ducklow has written a book which will communicate to anyone. Atheists, agnostics, and believers alike will find a lot to like in WHERE ANGELS TREAD. The story is honestly told, with demons and doubts and blasphemy lurking between the lines. "Everyman" can relate to this tale because of its integrity. That's what makes this story work.

If you want to be entertained, if you want to be challenged, if you want to become immersed in a retelling of "The Greatest Story Ever Told", read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Angelic Read, December 10, 2002
By
This review is from: Where Angels Tread (Paperback)
After reading Where Angels Tread, I was very impressed with how engaging the story was. Right from the beginning I was hooked and wanted to know what was going to happen to the small church community and all of its struggles, political and personal. There were several unexpected twists and turns that left me full of emotion and I found myself unable to put the book down! The depictions of the characters and story line were very easy to visualize; I almost felt like I knew the characters. Anthony Ducklow's story really made me believe that miracles can happen, even when we are full of despair. He did a great job of depicting the Angels in the story as well. The book was such a fast, enjoyable read that I almost felt sad when I had finished it. I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Where Angels Tread, August 8, 2011
This review is from: Where Angels Tread (Paperback)
Tony Ducklow crafted this story of the infiltration of the enemy into the church, the havoc it caused and how it nearly destroyed the budding faith of the main character, Nathaniel. But then Ducklow, takes his reader on a obstacle-strewn journey to the cross through the eyes of Nathaniel.

The imagery is excellent and I especially liked the scene at the cross. His writing is very realistic. Nathaniel is not a super hero, but rather an average young man; one who has fears and is searching for a relationship with Jesus. It is a story of perseverence, trial, and victory, though none of these come easily. I would recommend this book to those who are either walking by faith or those who are about to.

Tony Ducklow has a natural way of writing and I felt like I was right there with Nathaniel every step of the way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Churchgoers Are Only Human, January 24, 2003

This review is from: Where Angels Tread (Paperback)
As we grow up, it becomes easier to see the weaknesses of those we once thought were perfect. What happens when we get older and see the faults in fellow church members and even church leaders? For many of us, we drop church altogether. I did.

Where Angels Tread has given me cause to re-think that decision, made many years ago. The book is a smooth read, hard to put down, but stimulates much reflection between chapters. The author makes you feel as though you are right there with the

principal characters, every step of the way. I recommend this book to anyone currently embroiled in an organizational controversy, and to anyone who ever questioned their faith.

5.0 out of 5 stars Factual yet imaginative, January 15, 2003

This book is well written and researched for historical data. A vivid imagination is crucial to get full enjoyment out of it. Although much historical events are outlined, the reader doesn't need knowledge of the events to love this novel. I enjoyed the local geographic referrances in the story.

This book was wonderfully written, a combination of fictional characters and brilliant bible research. When Nathaniel found himself in an unknown land and time I couldn't put the book down until complete. It stimulates the curiousity into wondering about what really goes on the spiritual world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Supernatural understanding for Dummies, August 4, 2009

This review is from: Where Angels Tread (Paperback)
This book helped my logical left brain visualize and understand the very real spirit world we all live in. The writer's style helped me understand times in my life where I do things that I do not understand why, and how I can also fight the spriritual war that we face each day.
Very interesting story, but more important, a great teaching tool for children. I am going to re read it with my 7 year old son.
Buy this book, you will be happy you did.

4.0 out of 5 stars I Want A Sequel!, August 26, 2005
This review is from: Where Angels Tread (Paperback)
This book touches on not allowing humans and their failings to interfere with our walk with God. Though there are elements of spiritual abuse in the book (both toward a minister and from a minister), it isn't the focus of the book. I found myself wanting to know what happened to three of the main characters.

The story focuses on a church which has had turmoil for years. A new pastor is sent, who is quickly confronted by three men who have been the source of much of the trouble. With God's help, the pastor turns the tide and the church becomes a healthy one.

A man named Nathaniel attends a service and God touches him during the message Moses (the pastor) preaches. He strikes a friendship with Moses.

Further down the road, the congregation votes in an assistant pastor. At first things are fine......

Due to the actions of some and the turn of events, Nathaniel starts to lose his faith. But a stranger named Ethan sends him on a journey he'd never imagined and which will restore his faith in God.

5.0 out of 5 stars Where Angels Tread, March 5, 2004

I have found the author Tony to have written what is so vital in today's churches. There are so many who have been hurt in the church world that many fall away....but with Tony's book, it causes me to see thru the eyes of the Holy Spirit where one is just as fallible as the other.
I would highly recommend his book to any one. This is an eye opener book.

God bless you Tony & Linda! I'm an old friend of yours...long lost friend. *smile*

In Jesus' love,
Sharon
