5 STARS This was a moving story in so many ways. This is the third book of this series that I have read. I look forward to reading more about thier town in the A Sweet Magnolia Novel. Most of the characters I have seen in the other books and Its like coming back to visit old friends. Lynn is going through a divorce at the start of the book. She only has less than 25$ in her checking book. She has not got support for the last two months. Just found out her exhusband has not paid the morgage on house for two months. Lynn has one part time job and looking for another to help and than a third job. Mitch is working to remodel lynn's boss house which is also right next to Lynns house. Lynn broke his heart when she would not go out with him when he was 13 years old. Mitch's wife was killed a year ago by a drunk driver. He coped by drinking to much and when he realized stopped drinking. Mitch has two grown sons in collage. Lyn has two kids at home the oldest a teenager. Thier is a lot in the book about the three Old Sweet Magnolias and thats really touching. Lynn divorce is getting really nasty. Her daughter does not want to even go over to her grandmas house until she tells her she is sorry. Everyone seems to take sides in the divorce. Lynn tells her friends that if everyone stops buying insurance from her husband it will hurt her kids even more. I like the book club questions at the end of the book. I was given this ebook to read in exchange of honest review from Netgalley. 08/28/2012 PUB Harlequin Mira
Lynn Morrow is not only reeling from the unexpected divorce from her husband Ed, she is struggling financially when her soon to be ex falls behind on his financial obligations. With few job opportunities, she is working several part time jobs to make ends meet and achieve financial independence. Although she is angry with Ed and deeply hurt by his actions, she puts aside her feelings and encourages her children to maintain their relationship with their father. Lynn shows admirable strength as she regains her independence, but she also lets her pride sometimes get the better of her. She also has some baggage from her past that interferes with her burgeoning relationship with Mitch.
Mitch Franklin is a fabulous character. Still grieving the death of his wife, he is a kind, considerate, loyal and infinitely patient man. He has a wonderful relationship with his college aged sons, although they are not quite prepared for their father to begin dating again. Mitch is understanding of Lynn's need to take a slow approach to their relationship. While he is willing to let Lynn set the pace for the most part, he is no pushover. He is persistent when he needs to be, but he also knows when to back off.
Although not part of the Sweet Magnolias circle of friends, Lynn is quickly and warmly welcomed into their group. They offer her unconditional support and friendship just when she needs it most.Read more ›
Lynn and Ed are going through a divorce and he's off on golf courses rather than making child support payments. Raylene is her next door neighbor and enjoys having them over for dinner
and the company of the kids.
Mitch is doing some construction work at Carter and Raylenes now that her shop has a thriving bsiness and he's trying to meet the deadlines by staying later when the weather permits so he's often at her house for meals as well.
Nice to hear from the others in the area and what is new in their lives.
Lynn wants another parttime job and thinks working at the diner with Grace will give her the money she needs to buy food for the kids.
It's been a year since his wife Amy passed away and his boys at away at college. He's done many buildings in the area so the whole town know him and how he works with deadlines.
Mitch thinks he has the solution to her problem so he offers her a job she can do from home.
Mitch also has his own family problems that Lynn listens to so she can be a sounding board for him.
This book also follows other love interests. Love keeping up to date on everybody...
Mitch attempts to help Lynn get over her fears. Lots of mystery surrounding Ed and his lawyer...
Erik and Helen are dealing with older adult issues as both of their parents are together.
Love that the women have their margarita night and all the guys do a basketball night with pizza and beer.
Mitch and Lynn have come to the conclusion that they must end being friends and the women want to back her in her own business. They only did it cuz the divorce is bringing out the worst in people.
