This story is told by Angie, who is working hard to keep her family together while they struggle to keep the bare basics - a roof over their head and food on their table. Angie's little sister, Sophie, has an Autism-like disorder that makes it hard for the family to find and keep a home. Sophie improved significantly after bonding with the neighbor's dog, and when the neighbor moves and they once again lose their housing arrangements, their mom follows the neighbor.

Hyde has a great ability to make you fall in love with her characters. Angie is no exception. Angie tells her side of the story with grace and maturity, and I couldn't put the book down. I've read most of Hyde's books and enjoyed them all, but this one is easily my favorite and I finished it in just a couple days. I highly recommend it!

It's typical Catherine Ryan Hyde....which is a good thing.
Her subject matter is never earth shaking, it's just life lived through her colorful and complex characters.

This is the 5th book I have read by CRH, and so far my favorite! I loved all the characters, even the ones that weren't lovable, and I didn't want the story to end.

Heartwarming. It touches your heart and soul!!!!! I couldn't put it down. It made me want to involve myself with caring for Sofie, interact with Rigby, and shake Paul. A must and awesome read.

I'm definitely undecided about this book. For the most part I liked the plot of the story although there was a few different subplots that somehow just didn't seem to work because they just were not developed into the story enough. It felt as though they were forced into the story to give the characters more character or something...except it only serves as a slight distraction. I also hated the way Angie and Angie's mother refused to get help for Angie's sister. I kind of felt it was selfish.

I was also not a big fan of the writing style. Not sure exactly what bothered me about it but it didn't read as smoothly as I like and it was a little too simple for my taste. I couldn't be sure if the book was written for an adult audience in mind or a YA audience.
